Default 1st Sportbike Group Ride!

Almost forgot to share my first Group Ride experience. How dare me !

Had been reading tons of stuff on Group riding (from info. gathered from & through this site) just to get familiar w/it when all of a sudden I received a call from a buddy (whom I'd met a week earlier wiping down his bike in his yard) inviting me to ride w/him & a couple other guys. I went down & looked @my bike which at the time was in its second phase of break-in (couldn't exceed 11k rpms). I immediately thought that I will be fine since up to 11k rpms on my Gixxer is enough to ride w/any crowd.

After hanging up the phone I was nervous & constantly trying to remember all that I'd read about group riding (mind you that I had about 800 miles on my tach). Didn't know if I knew enough to be w/a crowd this early in my riding. But I was confident in the Buddy that I met & he knew that I was as "green" as they come. What stood out in my mind was the fact that he'd told me a while back that the only way to learn how to ride is to "RIDE."

I got over the shakes, mounted my Gixxer & went to the meeting spot, which was a gas station. As I entered the parking lot of the gas station, I saw 12 sportbikes (he said a couple on the phone ) of all types...Kawa's, Busa's, Yama's, etc. Some dressed in proper gear, some wearing none, some had their girls, you name it it was probably out there. In my mind I had to really shake off the butterflies & get w/the program.

As I pulled up & dismounted, I was introduced to the group. After going around the circle shaking hands I began to feel a tad more comfortable. As we waited 20 minutes for 2 more bikers (now 15 including me ) I had to sit on my bike & think if I was really ready for this. My Buddy could sense my doubting & came over to re-assure me that there's nothing to it.

-->PART II coming when I get home from work...
