| Another nice day, good two wheeled weather, got one day off and a tank full of premium. Now where to....... My favourite one day ride takes me 60 kilometres out of Melbourne to Geelong, than a short skip to Anglesea, where the Great Ocean Road starts, carved from the cliffs by returned serviceman from World War 1, this road is a monument to their hard work and never say die attitude. From here to Apollo bay it is 80 kilometeres of winding road, ocean views on one side and the rain forest of the Otway Ranges on the other. Fish and chips in Apollo Bay and than turn inland and climb through the forests before you hit open plains of farmland with windy 2nd grade roads and than the highway for a quick blast home. approximately 320 kilometres. ![]() ![]() ![]()

| My fav ride is one where you get back home in one piece, does not matter where you go.

not having been to Australia, I really don't know. By way of comparison...... Here, in the states, we have a football field called "Soldier field" in Chicago. The NFL Chicago Bears play there. It was named "Soldier Field" in memorium of those US servicemen who fought and died in WWI. And no, the naming rights are NOT for sale.
