I road a Blast during MSF class. Small and beat to hell but it was okay. The Firebolt bodies look agressive and could be fun to rent. I have a 24hr free harley rental pass for taking my MSF class with them.

how do the blasts do anyway? I was thinking of getting one for my g/f. She is 5' 2'' 170lb and has trouble sitting on my kat and my ride height is one of the lowest. They look cool too and for $5100 its not bad.

humm non of the ladies were that short in my class except for the instructor Donna. Ours were older blasts but they were thumpers, single cylinder bikes that aren't crazy with Hp or Tq. I'm not a fan of the seat but a used blast would be okay if she's not really sure about riding a bike at first.

Aaa, get her a Savage! Woohoo! Great bike for newbie ladies who are vertically challenged.

lol she rides my bike alot but can barely touch groun even with shocks turned to soft. We may end up getting her a 600 shadow. She looks good on it and she can handle it. She's been riding her dad's old 81' CB 750 custom

Never ridden one myself, but have seen several in action. I think that the Buell is a bike for experienced riders only - they have quite a bit of weight and way too much power. And most of them that I see here have a very short wheelbase, making them great for twisties and for racing, but very dangerous for anyone except the most experienced riders.

And that vibration - lets just say it look like they may be "a pleasure" to ride in more ways than one!

Went to the demo day today and they wouldn't let me ride because I didn't have a full face helmet. I only had a 3/4. I found that interesting. Oh well. I thought you might find that interesting....or not?

just a question, but if they are so great for racing then why arent they represented in the AMA series? Those are professional drivers and they wouldnt be concerned with being inexperienced. Nascar started race em on sunday, sell em on monday. Yet the AMA racing series has provided the same opportunity for the bike manufacturers. So where's the beef?

Keep in mind that the motor is built by Harley-Davidson.

Would you buy a racing bike that you need to rebuild after every lap?

if that's the case then why are they selling them at all? I dont think you really answered my question. They are selling them, so they aren't needing to be rebuilt. the fact that Harley builds the motor is suppose to mean what?

Even with the improvements Harley-Davidson has done to the Buell, Such as not using a HD motor anymore, the bike really can't compete with the imports on a track. As nice a bike as it is, the Buell is not a track bike in the sense that the GSX-R is.

I rode a Blast all last summer. I enjoyed it, it was fun but I would never buy a new one. For $5,000 I would rather get the Kawasaki Ninja 500 much more fun for the money.

The Blast is a solid bike, but the only guage it has is a spedo. No tach, no fuel guage nothing. Its also a single cylinder engine (as I recall). Its a starter bike and that's about it. I might have considered a used one in place of a Ninja 250, if the price was right. However it really is the type of bike you will outgrow very fast. Just one ride on a Ninja 500 or a Kat and you would never want to get back on it.

The Lightning 900 is better, but for the cost I rather get something else.

i do not think that a buell can be compared to a gsx-r. It is more like the sv's or the tl's. I do not know about the blast but i thought the lightning's and firebolts had v-twins in them so they are not going to have the hp like the gsx-r's but they are going to have more toruqe.

I'm not too keen on the style of the bikes, but I respect what Harley Davidson is trying to do.

I would have ridden a Blast, but none of the three at the MSF course would start and run longer than a couple minutes. They looked cool though!

In my town (population 700) we have a Buell motorcycle club (really) - there are two people with Buells here! Plus a whole bunch of Harleys, of course.

It's a funny little town ... there are at least 4 Ferraris parked in garages here, any my neighbor streetraces Renaults.

AFAIK, I have the only GSX 1400 here, though!

No. Erik Buell had a great idea. Too bad it was hampered by the POS Hardley Ableson motor.
