Default Advice needed on tyres for a 1999 GSX 600f

Hello Everyone

I have a 99 600f which needs a back tyre, it has a 150/70/17 on the back, i have been offered a cheap brand new Bridgestone which is 160/70/17.

Does anyone out there know if this is OK or does it have to be lower profile as it is a wider tyre

I am also in the process of servicing the bike, it has done 8100 miles but has only had one service according to the book, this was at 3500 miles.

I have been told the valve clearances have to be checked & the carbs synchronized, i am doing the valves tonight which is no problem but how do i check the carbs

Do i need a tool or can it be done by a novice like me

Thanks in advance

Mark
