Default You guys gotta get a dirt bike

It's been a few days now with my new DRZ400S. Looking back I've ridden for now over 45 years. My first two wheeler was a Rup Ram. Some kinda 5hp tube mini bike. Then on to the Honda CT70. Anyway. Two days ago I bought a DRZ400S dual sport bike.

Riding is fun. Feels good. But...I have never had this much fun in any bike I have ever had. What's important I think to add is that without a good sportbike and a cruiser..I would be limited. But..with those two..and now a dirt bike that I can take on the road...this is so awesome. So awesome is you really have to just ride one of these things and just see.

They sit high I must admit. Most people will not feel comfortable on them. But just to tool around on the roads..and if you see a dirt hill off the road to just go up it. It's...so...well you get "The Pump!" Pull the front wheel up..and get scared slamming the front wheel down..and the bike just comes down with 12" of fork travel and just does it smoothly is...different. To wonder what is down that road..then what is down that path and go find out...it feels good.

I hate to say it but even to wreck. I was hill climbing and going down this hill I hit a ditch by accident. I was launched off the bike. I flew..hit the ground on my side. Now i had my helmet and my Gixxer leather jacket on. As I got up I though, no damage..no road rash. I just picked the bike up..note..just picked the bike up..so light and rode on.

It's a toy. It's a motorcycle..but it's a toy. And it's Cheap too! Do 40' burn out in the dirt. No prob. Spin the wheels in the dirt and not need a new tire like on my Gixxer. No prob.

Even the unusual things like..the darn thing has a top speed of about 100mph. It's not safe but think what a person on a Busa thinks as he leads the pack and you zip past him on a little dirt bike. It's just funny. Note the fun is not the road at speed.

Last. In York we have many roads that have many twisties. Think of the reactions I got when I kept up with my Gixxer buddies. When we stopped they looked at me saying "What Da F***" I had no idea of the corning of this type of bike.

If anyone here is near York just look me up...I could just let you take it and see. What I am telling you all..I never knew something like this would be so just plain fun.

Sincerely....

We just bought a 10 acre parcel of land - I think a dirt bike is on the wishlist in the next year or two.

Don't I know it. I'm fantasizing about the day Evan (3 on Saturday) and I get to ride the back roads together.

Your not helping! Right now I'm trying to persuade myself to purchase a Standard when "M" is sold, see I'm inclined to get a Dual Sport.

I have noticed a lot of dual sports on the street lately, mostly the Kawi KLR's.
I think a DS is perfect for around town, light, quick, good handling. I have a friend who retired his Yamaha YZF race bike, made it street legal, put motard tires on it, and now rides it to work every day. How fun would that be? Ride your race bike to work.

He did. But he left the Yoshi pipe on it, you can hear him a mile away.

Default Here's another benefit

I found I just finished putting 200 miles on it and hit the reserve tank. Time to get a fill up. Gas is up to 3.07 a gallon for regular. Sure enough the manual says 87 is fine for the bike. I filled it up. Cost me less than 5 bucks!!!
