But an R1? I don't think I can. It's waaay too high, although I know it's not just the seat height that matters but also the seat width & shape that come into play.

Surfales, I'm only 4'10" tall. So I should be glad that I can ride at all for that matter. But how I would love to ride an R1!!! (To be more accurate, I can probably ride those. I just can't stop!!)

My son has a 99' CB600 F4. We took a ride today and swaped bikes. I liked his bike better. Riding position is more comfortable and engine felt smoother. I'd like to try the CBR 1000.

Oh you tried the CBR?
Yeah, over here too the CBRs are reputed to be an easier ride (position wise). But I still like the R1 much more (design and style wise).
And this is why I envy those who can ride R1s.

In Japan the CBRs are the most popular SS bikes though and I believe that shows how they are considered more comfortable.

BTW, CBR1000RR has undergone a major change in their 2008 model. So my friends who ride older models have actually been waiting for the 2008 model to come out if they had plans to renew their bikes.

Yes the R1 is a real chick magnet. But they call me "sir" so I'll go for comfort.

Happy New Year. The Rinkle R1 club is alive and well (sorta since I'm the only member).

My latest plan (and my plans change every day) is to by "a" bike (maybe a 1250 maybe not) from some where, ride it to the coast (CA) and either store it or ship it home to HI. You have any ideas which is the best state (in regards to price) to buy a bike from, storage cost or recommendations, and emergency road service (i'll be alone), best time of year to do it (HI is riding weather all year long)?

If you're looking at the West Coast, Oregon has no sales tax. That's always a plus. Another benefit is we have awesome twisty roads.
The bad part is it rains for much of the year so your riding season could be limited by that if you don't want to ride in the rain.

Yes, I considered Oregon. Any good dealerships in Portland? I may buy a bike there and ride between the rain drops until I get to CA.

What am I doing? This is the 50+ R1 Rinkle Riders Club. What am I doing bringing up the bandit 1250. Back to R1 business. Because of the overwhelming response to join this awesome club...the qualification is upped to +55 (must be 1 nano second older than 55). Sorry but adjustments had to be made. Next ride tomorrow.

No more club...bike stolen. If I ever buy another R1 we'll resurrect the Rinkle R1 Riders but until then Rinkled VRF Riders club is well and alive.

Nothing caught my interest yet. My VFR800 is fine for now. It doesn't have the power of the R1 but its a lot smoother.
