Yeah, the Bandit 650 is a pretty sweet bike

And the folks I know who ride 400s like 'em too.

Oh - just go for the 1250. Local dealer (Peru, IN) has a new 2007 on sale now - $1300 off MSRP.

Wow! For all the great reviews the 1250 gets, it still goes for under retail. Thank the squids for that.

Yeah - this dealer has had this bike on the showroom floor all summer - just recently marked it down. He has had it parked near the ST1300's and FJR's. The sportbikes are on the other side of the showroom, so none of the people looking at sportbikes ever even see it!

I've been tempted by it several times throughout the summer, but so far I have resisted.

It's tempting, however, somebody gave me some great advice once. They said start small and learn to ride. You'll become a better rider faster on a smaller bike.

I also heard some other words of wisdom that went something like "It's your first bike, not your last." I think I'll stick to the 600 standard range.

You know what?
My instructors at my riding school that I was going to, prior to getting my license said the same thing. "Start small and learn to handle the bike. That way you can become a better rider more quickly too."

Well, in my case, I started with a 125cc. Haha!! Yes, VERY small!!!!
But switching from 125 to 400 was very easy! Then on to 750 was also easy! I think I would have never made it to pass the 750cc test had I gone straight to 750 bikes.
