Well first I wish to say Hello, and looks like a nice place you all have here. I am an avid member on a truck forum and look forward to being on here as well. History, I've been riding for the better part of 20 years, (I'm 32 Yrs old) And Have owned or ridden quite a few sport bikes, and standard bikes. R1,R6,GSXR750,ZX750r,Bandit 1200, etc..etc... Lol A few years back My wife & I sold our bikes to venture into sport quads, still have them ('03 Cannondale mine, Blaster 200 wife's) Anyways the yearn for a bike has not left me. So within the next week or so I'm looking to buy a used bike. Thinking of either a '03-'06 Kawi z1000 or a '01-'05 Suz Bandit 1200. I have a lot of saddle time in a similar bandito but it was my buddies. I have not yet ridden a Z1000. I like to have fun, being dumb and wheelie a lot. The one thing about the bandit I hated was it was a large, long bike. Which is why the kawi is looking good to me.Anybody here care to share their thoughts to help me out? Sorry for the novel, & Thanks in Advance! Greg

I don't really see a Z being much noticebly smaller than a Bandit. I'm not familiar with the specs of either though. There are several Bandit riders here who seem very happy with them. Have you, or can you, test ride one of each? And welcome to the Forums BTW.

Thanks Guys, and I have not found one in particular yet. Most dealers in Florida don't let you test ride them, they make you go thru the purchase then you have X number of miles to decide if you like it. I belive the 2 are similar in size, but the bandit 1200s w/ the large faring gives it a bigger feeling. All I've read on the Z is how compact and short it feels. I'm only 5'9" so compact is cool with me. I do like the naked style bikes more now. Even thought maybe a Ducati or SV1000 but not sure about a twin. Speaking of twins, How are the Buells?

If you like doing wheelies, wouldnt a twin be best??? Seeing as how they are lighter and have gobs-o-torque.... Buells seem really compact to me (though I've never ridden one). They do have a very short wheelbase....

Good point, Though I have had no experience with any twins.... I see my search expanding which will most likely extend my purchase out more, and damn I thought it was going to be easy....Anyone care to comment on fun, powerful & very reliable twins? Something w/ easy maintenance. I already have a pain in the but with my quad. (cannibal)

| Sounds like a good wheelie bike, with a short wheelbase and all.... Just noticed I am on post 995. Getting closer and closer to that magic number of 1,000
