| Hey guys, A friend of mine just purchased a motorcycle and I am helping him pick it up this weekend. I did have a few questions on mean of transporting it. BTW, it is an '05 SV 650S. Should we just mount it on a pickup truck and strap it down or is it better to use a trailer /hitch in this case? I have an 06 Silverado to haul it with. Which method is more reliable/ safe? The trip is going to be around 450 miles. Thanks, E |

A couple of "IF'S" : IF you have a safe way to get the bike IN and OUT of the truck (the bed is probably higher than a trailer). and IF you have proper tie-down points in the truck. and IF the bike will fit in the bed such that the tail gate can be closed. Whichever platform you choose, the blocking and tie down is more important than the vehicle. Stop and check it often.

| my husband and I use trailers...and take our bikes long distances and then ride. We used to have a medium high bed trailer and it was a pain in the posterior getting bikes up onto it. The ramp up to your pick up bed will be even worse... you DONT want to ride it up into a pick up bed...and rolling it up can be a big challenge. (do I need to say this?).....I vote for renting a lowbed Uhaul trailer and tying it down safely.

| Ride it home. If the other guy can drive bike as well, then you can go with your truck and take turns riding the bike back. Torture, just torture. Forced to ride a pal's bike back. |
