| hey all, quick question. whats the avg mpg for a 1200cc bandit? Looks like Im getting less than 30, and I only get on it about half the time. I cruise for the most part at 3k rpms. Am I doing something wrong? p.s. I let the bike idle for a min or two before I set off, with the choke on. Does this help? Also buying k&n filters next week. I hope that will help. |

| ... ![]() | um, i hope you're not riding around with the choke on!!! and in houston, do you even need the choke? isn't it hot enough for the bike to start just fine without it? my zx-9r starts without using the choke during the day around here (it's been around 32C / 90F lately). and on my 900cc bike, i'm getting around 45mpg

| Good point, I just like to let it warm up. It sputters if I dont. No I dont ride with the choke on, but I just went through seeminly half a gallon for a half hour ride. Is this about right? |

| No Significant Other ![]() | I get between 38 - 43 depending on my wrist. If your riding around town with lot's of stops, I could see mid to low 30's. Note - The Bandit runs lean in stock condition. You might want to wait on the filters. I wouldn't put on the K&N's without re-jetting.

| The bike already has a yoshi pipe, and Im pretty sure it was re-jetted prior to me buying the bike. The filters would make it run worse possibly? In the mornings (and the afternoons aswell come to think of it) I hit pretty much every single stoplight on my ride. So maybe that is my problem. |

| No Significant Other ![]() | If you can, make sure it's had a stage 1 or 2 installed. If you run K&N filters and a slip on with stock jetting it will be real lean. If it's been jetted, you should be fine.
