Default The nut cruncher...

Anyone know of some sort of aftermarket padding made for sport bikes. Quite bluntly I'm uncomfortable on this bike, and it's to the point I'm actually considering selling as I don't fit very well on the bike.

I thought I'd get used to it but the bikes a bit too small, my legs are bent a little more that 45 degrees and this puts the pelvic region right into the tank, I seriously wonder if I wrecked this bike into anything if I'd be able to have children.

The mirrors just don't go out far enough to give me good rear view vision either, might have to see about some aftermarket mirrors, right now what I mostly see is my shoulders.

But regarding the title of the post, anyone know of a product made to make the tank a little less uncomfortable? Ya know, some padding of some sort? I suppose a custom saddle might make it better but at around $350 that's a pretty big gamble for a bike I may decide to sell.

cycling shorts. they have padded crotch areas that might just do the trick, they're fairly cheap, and are multi-purpose. wear them inside your pants to look marginally less faggy, or if they're hot-pink with Sailor Moon images on them. Hello Kitty, on the other hand, should be worn on the outside - loud and proud!

oh, do you wear leather pants? with jeans, you might not be able to grip the tank well enough to push yourself marginally back away from the tank. leather is sticky enough that you can position yourself at a comfy distance, grip the tank a bit, and not slide forward into a cruncher ad nauseaum.

as for the mirrors, that's common in a way. i see my elbows (not shoulders) and have to tuck them in to see behind. sometimes a small sideways shift of my head also gets me a better view. and, when tucked town and laying on the tank, i have to readjust both mirrors for the completely different angle.

Bike pants, good idea. I haven't had a pair of those since high school, only problem would be the extra heat factor but I may give it a shot. I've never owned leather pants, I can foresee them being a but warm too. I'm still having a hard time keeping a helmet jacket & gloves on... Sooo hot.

On the windows, I'll try moving them in, up and down. Logically as far out as they could go seemed logical. Thanks for the recommendations.

Cheapbike ....I've never had the crotch problem U speak of with any of the sport bikes I've had . There has been issues with my lower back , legs and wrists though. Try changing the position U have on the seat......maybe sit off the tank a little farther.
And as Greg said in his post , the mirror issue is pretty common with most of these bikes. They require a little movement of the head/shoulders to even use them . Some bikes do have spacers that U can add to the base of the mirrors too. I'm not that familiar with the Katana aftermarket mods though.

Mirrors.........even I have problems seeing the rear and I am definitely smaller that most of you guys here. On the Duc, I have seen other guys literally lift up their arms everytime they try to see what's behind. In my case, I just tuck in my shoulders.

As for the OTHER problem...well never worried about THAt!!

Well, I DO need to check how far I have gone PAST some guys, right?

But more seriously, I have actually gone PAST highway exits that I was supposed to get off at. I am sooooo damn terrible with directions and looking at maps! So I have actually used the rear mirror to see if other fellow riders have exited or not.

On a few occasions, I did have to say to myself "damn!!! they all got off!!!! And where am I going????"

I used to have the "see your own forearm in the mirrors" problem, that's why I replaced the stock Suzuki mirrors with bar-end mirrors. Now I see what's behind me without any problems.

Ahahah! Somehow those mirrors look "cute"!!
Can you actually buy those or did you modify normal mirrors to attach them at bar-ends?

I actually bought those. They don't look that "cute", do they? Here's another view of them:

Wookie that pic is hilarious!
I bet he can do a wheelie without moving an inch!

Jim, it's not the mirrors that are cute.
The bike looks "cute" with those mirrors. Kinda like crabs.
