Default Question on Biker Boyz

I saw the professional, or per say, riding on the highway..and pulled the front end up on his gixxer. How did he do that? It looked like he just gave throttle and the front wheel came up.

I was messing around in the high school parking lot practicing turns on stones. So I figured I would try raising the front wheel on a gixxer 750. The bike took off rolling along like a Bat out of H. But the front wheel stayed on the ground other than maybe and inch or two.

Question. What's the best way to raise the front wheel? Should I even bother? If it will cause damage to the bike or me I wouldn't want to.

Any ideas?
