Lowering is really easy. I have a ladie friend with a 89' 600 Katana that is lowered so much she had to take of the lowest part of the fairing to go over speedbumps. All you really have to do is drop the forks in the triple clamp, and have some dog bones for the shock made. I don't know if they are an off the shelf item for a Katana. One thing to remember. Lowering your bike will change its handling drastically.

Dog bones are a part of the rear suspension linkage. Different lengths will change the rear height of the bike. The triple clamp is the part your fork tubes clamp into and your bars connect to. There is an upper and lower bolt. You can loosen them and slide the fork tubes up thru the top to lower the front. Drag racers use a strap like suggested to lower the front of thier bikes, however thats not something you want to do on the street because it basically precompresses the forks and eliminates any usefullness they have. Not good if you hit anything on the street. Again, lowering one or both ends of the bike will change it big time.

If you just lower the front end, it will quicken the steering and make the bike less stable. The rear is just the opposite. If you raise the rear it sharpen the steering. If you lower both, you can balance it out pretty nicely. You will however then start needing to worry about dragging parts. Pammy here is 5footnothin and 100 lbs and she is having clearance problems already. ![]()
