Default Newbie help!!

Hey guys I am new to this froum and I would like a little bit of advice on the following bikes. I am thinking about buying 1 of these 3 Yamaha YZF-R1, GSX-R1000, and the Hayabusa. I don't know who makes better bike out of Yamaha and Suzuki. This will be my first motorcyle. I wish to invest in a nice fast bike, I will enjoy only on weekends. I have a fews guys in my gym that own these brand of motorcycles. I am also going to take a class so I can control the power of one of these top of the line motorcycles. I know you guys are Suzuki fan boys but what are you opinions on Suzuki?? You can also contact me on AIM: CarlChristan

There is no class designed to take a new rider to that level. That would be insane. Read this.

Has anyone else noticed that there have been more newbies than usual wanting advice on buying liter class sport bikes in the past few weeks? It just seems kind of odd...

cccablecompany, Whomever, wherever, or however you got the idea that any of these motorcycles are ok for a first time rider really doesn't matter. What matters is that you are wrong. If you don't believe me, just go to a reputable dealer in your area and talk to one of their salesmen, one who's been there awhile. Tell this person your situation and ask them to recommend a bike for your level of skill. They don't want to see you in the hospital any more than we do, and they will point you in the direction of a motorcycle that will suit you much better. Let us know what you find out.

First take the class and see if ridings for you before buying anything. If you didn’t read it, read the above link Rowdy sent you from Monica. There’s plenty of smaller bikes out there that need homes that will help develop your skills. If these are the bikes the guys in your gym are recommending for a new rider, they aren’t looking out your health and well being.

i think nowdays salesman throw the safety equation out just to make a sale i know this first hand went to dealership the other day to look at the gs 500 but they didnt have any in stock. so the salesman took me over to the 600 bikes and said that the six would do. i told him that i was a beginner and it didnt even faze him he said i would learn in no time. so some salesman dont care about the safety factor and just want the sales. so people dont let your friends, girlfriends, brothers, babysitters, toothfair ys and or your priest tell you that your ready for a untamed big dog because from what i hear big dogs bite hard. lucky i found these message boards and the right people that were not selling anything just giving away free knowledge pointed me in the right direction because i would have prob made a noob mistake and got the 600,750 or the 1000 but like i said theres caring people out there that dont even know you but look out for you and your safety. now if i could just find a bike for myself

If the salesmen were able to think more than 30 seconds in advance, they wouldn't sell a newbie an "R" bike. They would sell them a GS 500 plus a full set of gear, the most expensive helmet in the place, and send them on their way on a $5000 bike with $5000 worth of riding gear on top.

And then a couple of years later, that person would be back to step up to a new bike.

But the salesmen would rather sell you a $10000 bike and let you ride away naked...

BIke prices are dropping like rocks now, sales rep will do anything to sell anything and I have found out recently as well more seem to want to sell for the now $$$ and not think about the futeure sales available.

glad to have found this forum , still combing through it

Yeah, you can go ahead and buy one of those bikes. Totally. You can't ride it, though. You need to start on MAXIMUM, something like an SV650S, an FZ6, or a 500cc Ninja. Max.

You have to understand, I am not trying to buy a bike to exceed speeds of 100mph. I want something flashy and nice. I have own a bmw 745li so I would like to get a top of the line sport's bike to go along with the match. Understand I am not a kid that pop wheelies and show off by trying to go through fast moving traffic. I just want to know which is the better company. I thank you for your advice on getting a smaller bike but that is not a option.

We all understand (well most of us) and know what the the result of a inexperienced rider on a R type bike will result in. It is you my friend who doesn't know or have any idea what this type of bike is capable of.

Heck, I've been resigned to spectating for months. I stick the "big" thread in there and back away. We have plenty of help these days.

Listen to what people are trying to tell you .
I dont mean to sound like a %%%%% but you own a BMW 745...so what, it doesnt compare, power to weight ratio wise, to the bikes your talking about getting. Seriously watch the quickest bike accident video, they can bite a novice rider that quickly, regardless of your age, maturity level, or if you drive a Bmw, Vette or whatever car you want to name. There are plenty of flashy smaller cc sport bikes that will fit the bill.
Im sure your gym buddies have a few years of riding under their belts.

If you are looking for a particular bike because of the way it looks, then you are riding for the wrong reason.

You asked for peoples advise, and then choose to ignore or otherwise reply with disbelief.

Now, I am asking about 2 motorcycle company comparisons. So I don't understand why you are still trying to inform me on the risk of owning a motorcycle. Do you think any of the rich people down here in FL buy a ferrari or lamborghini to go fast??NOO!! Its to show what you have and can afford. So can you please stop it with these bikers gone wrong stories.
