Default Son had a wreck.....

Been reading the forum and like what I see here. (Safety Conscienceness) Hope this doesn't open up a flame war.

My son had a wreck on is 2006 GSX R1000.

BACKGROUND:
It was his first bike. (I know STUPID!!). But some 19 yr old are smarter than the Dads. He got the bike in May, and moved out in order to keep it. ("NOT UNDER MY ROOF")

He was traveling +/- 75mph on the interstate, and it started shaking and bucking and he went down. The bike has a broken frame.

I think the broken frame caused the accident, vs. accident causeing the broken frame. I also can see how irresponsible riding (wheelies) could have cracked the frame and cause the failure. Shouldn't these frames be able to handle wheelies?

Against my advise he only got liability ins. DUMB....DUMB

Luckily he only has severe road rash and a few stitches.

FWIW, I'm sure he probably did wheelies, burn-outs and such.

QUESTIONS:
1.) Bike has 4k mles on it. Does Suzuki warranty cover this?

2.) I saw the news report (from iTail.com) on the 2005 GSX R1000, where the ? racer ? broke a frame at the welds. THIS IS NOT BROKEN AT THE WELDS. It broke 2"~3" in front of the welds. Are there any problems reported on the 2006 bikes?

3.) Any suggestions on where I start?

4.) I am considering letting HIM handle this run-around that I'm surley getting into. It was HIS BIKE , HIS big IDEA, HIS intelegant decisions.......HIS MONEY/CREDIT !!!

Thanks for any info and advise,
Philip-TX
