Default Another wake-up call

I have just found out that the mechanic/owner of The Motorcycle shop died in a tragic accedent Friday the 7. A young 23 year old(Andre) owner of a motorcycle shop and a father of a three year old died friday while riding behind a friend. This is the story that I have heard from a close friend of his, while riding towards the Atlanta downtown area they were taking an off ramp that crossed the major highway. Apperantly going to fast for the friend who low sided in front of Andre, who did not have time to react and clipped the tire of the first person, name unknown. When Andre lost control on the bridge he was thrown off the bridge and down approx. 50 feet to the highway and landed on a suburban, rolling off the vehicle he tried craqwling off the roadway but was hit by two other vehicles. This young man had a very promising life before him with a business that was groing fast and a group of friends and family that will miss him badly. Just thought I whould share this with everybody, I hate to bring bad news but I believe that someone if not more will take this to heart and use this as a reminder when riding. Keeping a safe distance while riding in a group of two or more is essential to having a reaction time. This may be the reasong for his demise or it may have been something else that happened. Again this is information told to me from a close friend, if anyone knows more please share. Reguardless of speed or conditions, I believe in having room between riders to let you see hazards or traffic. Any comments are welcome, My condolances to the family and friends. the funeral will be Wednesday July 11.

Brian

I truly hate to hear this. A young son growing up without him is a tragedy.

Actually I believe he is survived by a three year old daughter, but you are correct none the less. Nothing can replace a girls father, but hopefulley the family and friends will help.

I wonder would he still be alive if he just stayed on top of that truck he landed on. This story is just as sad as that young girl dying damn.

I hate hearing this stuff. It's sad how these things happen. Nine out of ten times its the guy next to you or someone else that causes your death or pain. My condolences and I hope he is riding in heaven.

It is sad to hear these stories.
I feel sorry for the family.

If the awareness created by the news helps change the riding habits of our members, thereby reducing the risks, perhaps then we can take a positive
from these stories.

That is incredibly heart-breaking. My condolonces to his family that he left behind.

As terrible as these things are to hear, it's ALWAYS great for a reality check - especially for new idiot riders like me who get crazy as soon as a BMW tries to race him.

Crap... ....I just noticed this thread.

Very sad reading, thanks for sharing. Yeah, I'm kinda glad I don't do much group riding.

Something to definitely keep in mind.....practice AND remember.......spacing, speed and good defensive riding.

Thoughts and prayers going out.

That's aweful. Urban streets are no place for aggressive riding.

+1!!!!! Group riding can be very safe when rode correctly. If I am ever riding in a group and I do not feel safe or I think the group is doing something unsafe. I bail out. As seen on the Dragon Trip in June Group riding can be a very coordinated and safe event,, but even one person doing something wrong can be disaster for the group.

That is why it is important to know who you are riding with, make sure everyone is on the same page, and if someone doesn't want to abide by the greoup rules,, tell them "See Ya".

Sorry to hear about this Brian. I was shocked when you told me about it this morning. Condolences out to his family.
