Forget about the bike, thats replaceable. Thank God youre still alive because your life cant be replaced.

Recover (mentally), get another bike, and ride.

Man, I almost want to smack you around for not wearing your helmet. You got off way too easy - and we warned you!

That was a sharp bike!

Like they all said, wear a hard-hat and get back in the saddle. I'm happy that you didn't end up as rough as the bike, it looks like you're in the market for some plastic.

hahaha, i went to work 5 hours later to, but i was very lucky, i just don't want this to put me into a fear of getting back on a bike again ya know, cause you get into a car accident and it's not like your never gonna drive in a car again. But the helmet will definitley always be worn, I could very easily not be here talking about it right now, so it's some kind of a sign.

Thanks, the bike was only a year old and i only put 3K miles on it, and about 700$ worth of work with the exhaust, air filter, jet kit, and lowering links. I loved that bike and will miss it alot, but i'll be even more pissed if i walk away with nothing, cause i owe more on the bike then it's worth but the ladies insurance will pay for it and i got the gap insurance to cover the rest, but it's like i've been making payment and insurance for over a year and then cause she wasn't lookin i loose it all??? That's not fair, i could be dead right now and then walk away with nothing, so i'm gonna do my best and talk to an attoyney to see what i can do, yes i am very thankful to be alive, but i'm not gonna have everything taken away from me for something that wasn't my fault.

That's good to hear. Might wanna invest in a jacket and gloves at least too. Then you wouldn't have had that road rash on your arm as well. Hope you get back in the saddle soon!

Its just truly a blessing I know ppl that have been going slower than what you were had more gear and got into worse accidents its just unreal but once again thank God you are alright. Hey if you dont mind can you take me through the accident i know you described what happened but Im referring to the point of impact to flying through the air to landing.
As a paramedic, lemme just enlighten you on this. It's largely a myth that people commonely sustain more injuries when using safety devices, like seat belts, helmets etc. I had someone tell me once that her sister was killed from the seat belt of the car because she sustained blunt trauma to the chest. She refuses to this day to wear a seat belt. I asked her if she was able to identify her sister after the accident and she said yes. I then told her that that kind of impact, without her seat belt on, she would most like not have had an open casket viewing. Her sister had been driving almost 90mph in a 35mph zone.

Look at it this way. If it is enough force to kill someone with gear, it's enough force to easily kill them without it. For instance, if someone gets into an accedent with their helmet on and it breaks their neck and kills them, then take that helmet off and you now have a head injury that would have most likely killed them later, had it not been for the broken neck.

Also, look at statistics. Look how many people were killed by head injuries during bike week.

You will probably be better off with an attorney, there's no reason to accept a kick in the butt from the lady's insurance and be out of pocket for something that she's liable for. You should be made whole, not screwed out of a bike and left with nothing. Insurance companies do their best to get you to accept a crappy offer quickly. Figure out what you need to be made whole, to be back in the pre-accident situation, and don't settle for less.

That's not how helmets work, they absorb impact and resist penetration, reducing damaging effects. Helmet design and use has been studied pretty thoroughly and only a few idiots will tell you that helmets can injure you. They're also the ones who tell you loud pipes save lives and you ride better after a few drinks....
