Default Went to Jennings GP on Monday

Hi all:
I just did my first track day. Went to Jennings GP on Monday and had a blast. Got hooked right away. What a wonderful way to safely ride your bike to it's limits. Now I'm in a dilema. My brand new tires are shot after just one day on the track. Since they are still O.K. for street riding, I thought I'd get a second set of wheels and use those for the track. Would be easy to change rubber too.
What's a good place to get a set of used wheels??

Glad you had fun! I really want to do that, too. I'd watch ebay.

So post the pics of you! I'm too lazy to scroll through all of them and try and figure out which ones are you.

That's awesome dude! Looks like a ton of fun. I wonder if there's a track around here, I don't think there is.

Motorsport Ranch out by Dallas (closest to you - I think), Texas World Speedway at College Station, or even Oak Hill near Henderson.

I looked up Motorsport Ranch's website (BTW, what is that link to? Looked non-motorcycle related to me). Too bad a membership costs $12,000!! Although I'm sure there's a daily fee or something that is cheaper.

Oops, thought I had changed that. Look for trackday events, not actual "memberships" to the track.

Thanks Nut!! I was looking at that website, and Lone Star Track Days' website. I'm gonna see if my dad wants to go there for a day. Thanks Nut!

That first picture must have been taken before you started riding, because it looks like the chicken stripe on your rear tire is still about an inch wide.

Just busting your chops, looks like fun!!!

FWIW:

Ummm . . . a lot of it has to do with bike geometry. I know old-school racers that still kick ***, but have a more conservative riding position than a newer racer, they still have the strips.

My 1100 racebike has chicken strips on the outer edge of the tire. After I changed the geomtery to adjust to the modifications, that is how the bike rode. I rode that bike pretty damn fast too. It physically will NOT go to the edge due to how the bike is set up and my riding style now. When the tire reaches the edge, my motor drags on the pavement. The last time that happened, I broke my back. Now the bike is set up correctly.

On my old school GSX-R's, running 160 18-inch tires on the rear with a 4.0 inch wheel will still have small chicken strips on the outside. That includes running them in that configuration at trackdays and chasing down and passing guys on new bikes (AHEM) with NO chicken strips. If I was to push that tire to the edge, guess what, I'd be on my butt because the tire is just a hair wide for that size wheel. You can see/feel where the edge of traction is in that configuration, and the tire has a drop-off where that edge is.

Basically what I am saying is that chicken strips do not necessarily mean $hit.
