There's a problem with this....we have different ideas of what can be perceived as considerate. Personally, I think it's very inconsiderate for anyone to think they can dictate how (not what) people in a forum "should" post things. In real life, it would be quite amusing and shocking to see a grown adult say "Hey, I didn't like the way you answered that because it was too brutally honest. You should've said it in a way my mind would have better accepted it." I have observed many in here who are very passionate about safety and improving riding skills and will say so. Whether it's with the sugar-coating or not, it's the same message. I admit that I have seen some statements that needed to be taken with a heavier grain of salt than others but whether the answer is considered sugar-coated or not, well, that's not up to anyone to dictate for anyone else.

Aloha,
Kehau

If you have a problem with people requesting being considerate, or using tact when telling someone they are off their rocker-you probably won't get too far in life. Do as you wish, I am only trying to help us.

mark, what are you trying to achieve with this thread? On one side, you want us to "be nice" to newbies, but then you go blow off Kehau with one sentence.

As I posted above, someone who comes here looking for advice will get good advice, and plenty of it. But someone who comes looking for a pat on the back for a bad decision will be disappointed.

Exactly what I meant by you people getting far more uptight over things in a forum than in real life. Great post Kehau!

I guess we're all guilty of taking some things a little too personal, thanks Kehau, but I guess in the end the point is to think about how we write things to have them taken better by the recipient.

Even the dumbest in this country can vote..call them stupid and they vote the other way. Show them the way, and they come along for the ride.

I'm not talking about sugar coating. I also know that being honest and straight forward is a great way to communicate. I'm the last person who wants censorship implemented. What I highly appreciate is a smilimg face and a nice word. 'Don't buy a ... - you'll get killed' vs 'it's tempting to buy a ..., but they are not suited for beginners' and then prove it with statistics and some pics!!

I find it slightly amusing that many of the mods are actually the ones posting the messages you want them to delete..... mods create and shape the site the way they want it, thats why they are mods.... Their opinions and feelings are how the site WILL go, they direct it. they ARE the parents, and like any parents, they are gonna raise their kids (the site) however they deem best.

I agree with thinking about how we write things. Like I said before, there are many in here who are very passionate about promoting safety and will share it. That person most likely did think about how to write their answer to emphasize the passion they feel.

Hmmm...well, the Chimp is the main reason I'm as thick-skinned as I am. He is Sicilian/Irish and his roots are from New York....'nuff said, LoL.

That's great you appreciate that, I believe that is the acceptable norm. I too appreciate friendliness in most cases but for serious issues, I value honesty from the experienced.

Aloha,
Kehau
