Fender Eliminator for Katana 600 - Motorcycle-Journal Forums

I bought a 2003 Katana 600 a few months ago. It's been a great bike. But don't like the full rear fender. I have been looking at some of the fender eliminator kits around. The kit descriptions don't have much detail. I can see there is hardware that must attach under the seat to relocate the signals and license plate. Does the stock fender come out completely? Or does it get cut back. If it comes out and nothing replaces it, are there any problems with water, dirt or ... blowing under the exposed seat and frame?

have one on my 96' 600 and its smooth in a good kit you should get replacement fender(dosent stick out) that will hold the liscense plate and flush mout tail lights to install on the rear upper fairings. if you want to save money i've heard of people just buying the flush mounts and cutting their original fender so it dosen't stick out

If you don't want to shell out the money for the fender eliminator kit, you can borrow someone's dremel cutting tool (or any good cutting tool) and just cut the fender off below the license plate. Then you don't have to fool around with moving the turn signals.

Saw it off right under the turn signals and sand it until it's smooth. That is what I did and it looks good. It's also very cheap and easy!

For the record, I just bought a competiton werkes kit for my undertail. I briefly tried installing it myself to no avail. The instructions are ABSOLUTELY USELESS. I had to end up taking my bike to a shop where it sits now. I have no idea how long it will take or if they can even install it. I am hoping they can do it for $150 or less, seeing as I paid $150 for the kit in the first place. Bottom line is the rear fender of the 600 Kat is ridiculously ugly and you need to get rid of those signals. Just a question of how much you are willing to spend and how good you are with motorcycle repair and maintenance. I will post a pic of the final install, if it ever culminates. Later.

I did get the bike back after I had the kit professionally installed. Looks very flush now and you can really get a nice glance of the michelin tread now.

I bought a kit on eBay for $50 for my '05 Gixxer. You should be able to find something similar.
