Yo Everett Thunder Manufacturing claims that there air kit can boot hp and they show dyno results to prove it. Why do you clam it can"t. BTW look forward to seeing you in Tenn.

I have a 2005 SV650 w/ a K & N intake and a Yoshi RS-3 slip on. After installing the Power Commander and testing it on the street, I was dissatissified. The bike really didn't feal any better with or without it. I finally took my bike to have it dyno tested. I discovered that I had .5 less HP with the PC than without it. I modified that map a little bit and squeezed another 2 HP out of the PC, but am still not happy with the results. I am currently trying to resolve this problem with dynojet. Before you purchase a Power Commander, check with other riders with the same bike to see if anyone has had any problems similar to mine. SVBuckmaster |

definately, if I were reading and thinking of getting one I wouldnt. Anyways, what map did you use that was no good and what map did you use that was good? also what did the curve look like? did it KEEP that 2hp gain throughout the powerband? I am not really interested in peak power, dont care, I like the idea of a little extra throughout and a smoother band though

Here's what I did...I got the K&N and a Tri-Oval Pipe..I was ready to get a power commander..and my dealer told me how they could remap the engine. I didn't buy my Gixxer to save money; however, you have to have noticed..something..just isn't in sync with the pipe and the air filter. So I opted for the service manager's advice and had it remapped. I'm personally glad I took this option. My friend with the same bike and power commander..note he is also the one with the change in sprocket I spoke of earlier..can adjust his tuning. But mine I just turn the key and ride.

Because of all the bickering, I really didn't read most of the previous posts. Nice job, guys! I picked up a brand new Power Commander III USB for my bike for $199 on eBay, so I'm not sorry at all that I bought it.. but can I tell a difference with the bike? Not much. If I was a 10+ year rider, I probably could notice a huge difference on certain settings. The thing that I have found, though, is that my gas mileage is a better. I think going from 37mpg to 40-41mpg is quite significant. I used the map for K&N Filter and Two Bros. exhaust.. the fuel delivery for LOW throttle was a little high, and for the first tank of gas after installing the Power Commander, my gas mileage was low. I reprogrammed it and set the LOW throttle a bit lower so it won't give it as much gas [because you're in low throttle most of the time anyway], and my gas mileage is superb! MID throttle I set a little above the middle.. for those times in sixth gear where I'm on the highway, and need to crank the throttle to pass someone.. the fuel will be there. My local bike shop guy has an FI system remapper computer program tool hookup thing... he does it, specific to the bike hardware, for $125. I didn't opt for that, because of how cheap I got the PC III USB. I say.. unless you really know what you're doing, unlike me, you probably won't be able to take full advantage of the Power Commander III USB.. but it's a nice addition to the bike, anyway. Check the picture.. how do ya like that mounting location? |

My initial inquiry was relative to overall performance, but people around here apparently, still, can’t get past the 150+hp & 10 sec. quarter mile times. I’m not even going to get into it, but I will say that my power commander purchase, with the accelerator pump software upgrade, was worth the $255.00. I have personally seen multiple performance increases, although some not as dramatic as others, with my particular set up. Oh...and powerband performance is included in overall performance in my book

Congrats; the fact that you're happy should be enough for you I was looking at that accelerator pump, and it seems that it might be somewhat difficult to setup; as I understand there are no pre-defined "maps", instead you must adjust and via trial-error get where you want to; what has been your experience? Is there like a recommended setting to start with? | |
