| 12.88 seconds, measured from the starting light to a timing light at the end of a quarter mile. The elapsed time, or E.T., is an indicator of horsepower per weight, and the mph, or trap speed, is an indicator of gearing, among other things. I hope I don't have those backward. 102.27 mph, measured by a set of timing lights set 60 feet apart centered at the end of the quarter mile. Thus, the final speed is actually an average of the speed over that 60 feet, and is slightly less than the actual speed at 1/4 mile. Also, in plain English, those numbers mean you either have a fast car or a slow bike.

| Given that 12.88 beats a whole slew of production "high performance" cars, I wouldn't exactly call it slow. And given that most 600class SS bikes are just a few tenths under 11secs it really depends on what kind of bike you're on. |

| Ditch Magnet ![]() | 12.88 is fast for a cruiser or a production car. but slow for a sportbike. we have 600 sportbikes entering the high 10's now..

A had a chevelle SS that I got 12's out of with the normally aspirated 396 in it, and later had a built 350 in it with nitrous and still only got mid 11's....and this was with gears that wouldn't make it too terribly driveable on the street.... Random Thought: Today's crop of motorcycles are geared for high end speed, not quarter mile, and they still outperform cars that are geared for quarter mile. Motorcycles are truly the best bang for the buck there is. They outaccellerate, outcorner, and stop faster than anything on 4 wheels. And for 1/6 the cost or less. 98G | |

| Newbie | well, i'm sayin it'll be faster than what I can prolly get the bike to run. high 11's on low boost is what i am expecting with the new setup, stock internals can only handle soo much. i've always been told that 600's avg. mid 11's or so stock.

| According to the May Motorcyclist mag. Gixxer 600 0-60 = 3.13 0-100 = 6.71 1/4 mile = 10.77 @ 128.2 HP = 103.6 @ 14k Torque = 48.9 @ 11k Gixxer 1000 0-60 = 2.92 0-100 = 5.50 1/4mile = 10.10 @ 142.5 HP = 150.5 @ 11k Torque = 77.2 @ 8250 |
