| I personally prefer the 650 rather than the literbike. But then again, I am cheap and don't want to pay for the extra gas. During my iron butt run, I used only about 20 gallons of fuel while my buddy on the 1000 used up more than 26 gallons, so that's about $18 difference over 1000 miles. I also don't haul a55 on straight lines so the extra power and torque won't help me much. It's just me....

| my 03 sv1k has thus far proven itself bulletproof. i dont have a million miles on it(5016), but have ridden it in the mountains of colorado and the beaches of north carolina. plenty of usable power throughout the rev-range. awesome brakes, aggressive looks, and that sweet v-twin sound really have sold me on this bike. it will never have a second owner. as far as 2 up touring, the bike can and will do it easily. will it be comfortable right out of the box? the short answer is..........no. the seat is probably the only SORE point i have with the bike. on an 11hr ride last summer, i realized that the stock seat has to go! it will do what you want it to, but talk the price down some. use the exrta $$ to buy a good aftermarket seat. just my 02 cents......
