Default DOT but not Snell??

Opinion time from the more experienced riders here.

What is your opinion on a helmet that isn't Snell approved but is DOT approved?

My Shoei doesn't have DOT or SNELL certification ... just simply ECE 22-05

(ECE 22-05 is the European standard for helmets)
