| well ive been riding for 4 years now and i plan on upgrading my bike. my current bike is an 01 r1 but ive gotten tired of how ridiculously common they have become in my area, they are basically the civic of bikes. anyways i decided to try out suzuki and decide whether or not i want a gixxer or a busa. obviously for the straightline performance it would be busa but i live out on backroads and want the back to handle well considering it's size. so i ask this: how much difference is there in handling between the 2? if it is drastic ill go with the gixxer but if they are almost the same id go with the busa. as it stands now, i'm leaning towards the busa. the performance plus i think the bike looks a lot better especially with the black and gray scheme. well any input will be most welcomed and i hope that as soon as i get the bike i will be welcomed into this great civilization of zuki-topia

| You will get a few different opinions, because everybody rides different. A friend had the 'Busa in between 2 Gixer thou's. He said the 'Busa felt more like a really fast tourer than a sportsbike. For his style of riding, he much preferred the Gixer, and went back to it. Some people will tell you that you can keep up in the twisties, but in my opinion it depends on the experience of the group. I saw a 'Busa on a track day, the 600's were hitting corners a lot faster and harder than he was, but again, that could be down to the way he was riding it. The Gixer 1000 is marketed as the top of the family sportsbike, and the hayabusa is marketed as a sports tourer. Why not find somewhere that will let you test ride and decide for yourself? Good luck.

| You say you want to get rid of the R1 because they are too common. Hell around here gixxers and cbr's are a dime a dozen. Guess it just depends on where ya live. Anywho If you like the twisties and want a bike that will handle them well then I would go with the gixxer. Light and flickable. And If you can keep the front end down then I could not imagine there being too big of a power difference. The busa is fast as hell and a good rider can keep up in the twisties, but it is more suited for touring. I consider it one of the most comfortable sport types available. For me a buse would be perfect, but we don't have many twisties around here either. Like has been said. Sit on em. test them if they'll let ya and decide which you like better based on what kind of riding you do.

| yeah it all depends on you. ill tell you this though, the busa is only good for straight roads and dragstrips. i live 5 mins from a dragstrip and tons of bikes run every weekend and the 1000 is no joke. depending on the rider ive seen a 1000 beat some busa ass quite a few times. easy for me to say when i have 06 1000 but i think its the best bike out there right now.

| Around here, every other bike is a 'Busa. Most of them are heavily customized and stretched. They are not my cup of tea. Steve does sum it up well. You have to decide what you really want to do with the bike.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | If you want to ride something "exotic", why are you looking at a Gixxer or a Hayabusa? Both of those are very popular (and thus very common) bikes. If you want something that is unique, look outside the box. How about a Triumph Speed Triple? A 3-cylinder 1050ccm bike that looks great, sounds great, and isn't all that common. Or a Buell? Or even a Ducati 955? Or a MV Agusta?

| Around here it is Busa and Gixxer nation. Hit me up on the R1. I would say cop a test ride from somebody and see which one fits you better.
