Thumbs up Notice anything different????

Well, do you?

Never let anyone tell you something can't be done. I was eyeing the '06 GSXR-1000 mirrors with integrated signals for a couple of months. I asked the dealer if they were a direct fit, they said no it can't be done. I compared them to which the angle of the bracket and mirror stem is about 90 degrees from that of the '02 600. But being me and never accepting no for an answer, I picked up a brand new set off of eBay from a guy that just bought his '06 Gixxer and had immediately removed the OEM mirrors. Yes, I had to modify them quite extensively to fit (Dremel, hammer, file, chisel, paint, etc.) ... but the end product turned out as good as factory. I am considering smoking out the lenses. I am leaving the Hotbodies flushmounts on to serve as "Euro" turn signals (you know, like all the Civics racer-boys trying to emulate BMW's ); figure it can't hurt. Yeah for visibility! I'll take some better outside shots when it's not so overcast outside and she's clean. If anyone's interested I may develop a how-to. So, what do you think?

PS - Heres the before:

ZD,
I'd be interested in the HowTo just to see if they would fit on my 01 Bandit 12S, which from the mounting points, it looks like they would.

Nice work! I'm a big fan of that type of customizing. See my Hella headlight mod for my biggest project to date.

P.S. Do you have to start a new thread for every stinking mod?

Got the mirrors for $100 shipped. Good deal considering new; and that they are. I will attempt a how-to with some pics that I took ... give me some time. It's really down to your ability to chip away at the aluminum. I haven't wired them yet, just drilled through the top behind the mounts and pulled the wires through; ran out of time today. It's simple though, as the wires will tap directly into the stock signal harness behind the side fairings.

I wonder why they didn't come up with the integrated mirror signals until recently honestly.....it's such a good idea.

Okay, didn't quite do a How-To, but here are a few pics to give you an idea of what was involved (minus wiring). You can see in Pic 1 the difference between the '02 600 (bottom) and the '06 1000 mirrors ... note the angle of the mounting plates; the '06 bolts are facing 90 degrees down. In Pic 2 you see my modification (left) in order to work with the '02 OEM plate. Pic 3 shows the angle of the cut in rough format. All I used for this was drill, a Dremel cut-off wheel, hole saw and file ... no professional mill or lathe work here, ... I wish though; would have made work a lot simpler.

I've also attached two links to short movies of the signals at work. I wanted to show the Hotbodies flushmounts with them, as I kept them for side markers, .

As promised, she's all cleaned up from top to bottom ... sparkly, ain't she? Anyway, just some better and cleaner shots of the mirror conversion too.
