Default 98 Katana 750 clutch clatter

I have 25k miles on my GSX750F. I'm a normal rider...no tricks or racing. Did a long trip (500miles) last summer and noticed a clatter appear in the gears as I engaged 1st (got louder as it got hotter). Left it at the shop for a month...they heard nothing except timing chain slack. Noise reappeared this spring. Valves are tuned, carbs are synched...engine runs great. I've gone to 20W50 (non-synth) and even added Lucas Oil (which helps somewhat), but noise is still there. No sounds in neutral, or at speed.

Also, any idea where I can find a shop manual for my bike...been to BikeBandit, but "no joy", and searching the internet for a 98 GSX750F manual has given me a headache!
