All I have to say about of these comparisons, and what bike should a beginner get and so on, is this; When I bought my Bandit1200, I was coming off 30 years of riding dirt bikes, thumpers, big two-strokes (KX500 currently), and dual sport bikes, the DR650 (current thumper).
When I first rode away from the dealership on my new Bandit1200, I could not believe how much power it had. The power was just absolutely unreal to someone like me, new to street bikes. And even now, after six months, it is still thrilling to ride and more fun than any other bike I've ever had.
I'm just trying to say to go ahead and take the plunge, take it easy at first, and you'll be glad you went with a liter bike because it never gets boring and it's more fun that you can imagine.

Smashin, though your Bandit has good power, it's nothing compared to a big-bore race replica bike. I can't agree with your advice.
