Default Experience...New GSX1300R

I picked up my new bike wednesday evening.....and rode it home....after not being on a motorcycle in 7 years or so...

I made the discovery that I was MUCH rustier than I had anticipated. Add to this the fact that there were 40 mph variable crosswinds for the first 8 of the 35 mile ride home...My hands were actually sore from gripping the bars by the time I got home...I read the manual cover to cover, then went for another ride around 11 pm. Much better this time. Twisty country road in the hills - no crosswinds. Got home around 1 am and went to sleep...

Supposed to be a nice day yesterday so I rode it in to work. Nice ride in - 30 miles or so. Getting quite a bit more comfortable on it - skills are coming back. Then it rained, starting around lunchtime. Ugh. After work had to go to class - in the rain, on new tires that are not fully scuffed in yet. After class was mosty dry and not raining, except it started raining before I was halfway home.

Washed the bike thoroughly and dried it with a bath towel . Cleaned and lubed the chain, checked the air cleaner.

Today was supposed to rain all day, so I left the bike in the garage and drove the truck. Sunny and nice all day....until a few minutes ago. Thunderstorms now. Guess leaving it home was the right choice after all.

I anxiously await a nice sunny day......
