depending on where you live, you might only have to take a written test at the DMV. I'm pretty sure in Michigan, you don't have to take any special courses, just the written test.

How clever is that? No wonder so many kids die. Almost as clever as riding for 7 years without a license.

yeah i was thinking that same thing. the only catch is you ahve to be 18. and ride with an experienced rider for 6 months, unless you take a course, but there is almost no way to enforce that.

Default Alaska does it correctly

Before you can get your M-class license you must take the MSF course - either taught by the DMV or by an independant teacher. THer certificate for the course passing is your "on-road" test certificate.

Kills two birds with one stone, and makes for safer riders to boot.

Of course, they still don't have a helmet law....

No license must mean no insurance! And you ride???

Stuff like that make motorcyclist look bad, it affects license rates, it affects insurance rates, it affects lives

Ever thought what might happen if you had an accident? or worst killed someone? Then again, you might be the kind of people to take off and run...

Not sure where you live timekills but in PA the MSF is not mandatory, it guarantees your M class but any rider can just schedule the MC test and pass or fail.

Congrats on the new 1K, truely awesome bike fo sho, be carfull get comfotable and ride safely. Remember there's nothing between us and the ground but air and our leathers!

Peace

Oops. I don't know what happened to the "In Alaska" that was supposed to come before the "Before".

Although I don't live there anymore.

I can't see the reason to ride with no license or insurance, especially long term. I wouldn't want to be constantly looking over my shoulder thinking of possibly getting caught. Takes minimal time and funds to do it the right way.
I've already been on the receiving end of a hit and run. My guess is they didn't have insurance or a license so they just left me for road kill in a remote canyon. Almost cost me my life. It did cost me my job, savings and credit rating. Almost lost my home too. Some lazy jerk, nearly added my family to the homeless population! Six months of recovery time sucks!
