Default HELP! Can't start my 02 GSXR 1000!

It might just be cold outside?

I have tried to start this bike up... I just bought it from a guy earlier. He started it up. Rode it up and down the street. I started it up about 2 hours later in the back of my truck. Everything was fine.

The bike has 6,800 miles on it and shouldn't have any mechanical problems whatsoever.

After a 2 hour drive in the back of my truck in the rain I pulled it off the truck with some friends and tried to start her up. The starter just kept firing but no start. I tried push starting it and jumping it with a car. No luck.

There is a red light on in my tachometer display where the oil, temp, and F1 symbols are.

What is the F1 symbol?

Why isn't my bike starting?

HELP!

Thanks in advance.

-Kai

Oh... the F1 = FI = Fuel Injection?

Does that mean the bike is flooded? Or is something else wrong?

FI bikes don't flood.

Probably something REAL simple. Make sure your tank is on reserve, and that all of the safety switches are working correctly.

Details please?

The last bike I had was a 99 CBR 600 F4 which wasn't FI.

How do I go about making sure everything is in working order?

How do I switch on/off the reserve tank?

Default simple things first

1st thing, be sure to check the oil. Suzuki's have a low oil sensor that can cause an engine to not start if there isn't enough oil. 2nd, be sure there's at least 1.5 gallons of fuel in it. Once it starts, the FI light should go off; if not, you have an error and need to take it in.

I am assuming it's being attempted w/ the side stand down. If so, be sure it IS NOT in gear or it won't start(green neutral light is important). Once you've beaten that one, lift the stand and have someone hold the bike up so you can check the side stand switch to see if it's stuck or bad.

Once that one's beat, remove the seat(s), disconnect or remove (if you remove it, be sure not to set it on the ground, use a piece of wood) the battery, and check all of your connections to your ECU and other essentials. NOTE: be sure to leave the battery disconnected for at least 5 minutes. This will allow the system to go through a "reset cycle".

Reconnect the battery after you check connections, but leave the seats off and try to start it in neutral (green light will be on). If it does not start, you will need to prop the tank and check the coil packs that mount to the tops of the plugs. Carefully remove them 1 at a time and replace 1 at a time so you don't mess up the firing order. Take a pipe cleaner, fold it in half, then clean the contact inside the coil pack (the end that connects to the plug). Repeat this step for each plug and be sure that when you reconnect the packs that they "click" into place. DO NOT force them.

If none of the above works, take it to a licensed Suzuki mechanic that you trust and have them look at it. They WILL most likely repeat what you have done to narrow down the problem, unless it pops an error code.

Does your bike have a choke? If so, try engaging the choke. My bike is an '01 GSXR 600 and it is Fuel Injected also but still has a choke for some reason. Just a thought.

Just trying to give the good bad and ugly so it prevents coming back with each attempt seeking a different resolution.
