Your SV DOES look pretty damn cool, like the yellow. . Anyway, I have a Bandit 1200S, with the half fairing, and installed a double bubble Puig windshield, that helps a lot at keeping the wind blast off the chest.
I like both faired and naked bikes, guess that's why I ended up getting a half-naked bike. I couldn't quite afford a new SV1000, or I would have bought one (got to test ride one, freakin' awesome bike!) Settled with the cheaper '05 Bandit, and I love it. I know it's not a V-twin, but still it's extremely torquey for a four-banger and can hold it's own with no prob from 0-100.

I tryed sv 650 few times, it just runs out of rpm's too soon, is not that stable in the turns, and the brakes are not good, also I don't like the vibrations. It's cheaper than the gixxer and there is a good reason for that. You get what you pay for. I like the gixxer better.

Wow I didn't think the SV was that bad, granted its not the quickest machine but I always felt it was a dream in the corners and I certainly never had a problem stopping. I think your implications of the SV being "cheap" are a bit far fetched, maybe you just rode a lemon.

I love my SV. Personnally, I think it has plenty of power and totally worth it. Of course a Gixxer is more powerful than an SV and being a supersport bike it's normal that it has better brakes too. Although I never had issues with my brakes. I don't believe anyway anyone needs to power of a Gixxer on the streets. Track is a different issues but then 'Nut could kick you *** on any bike because the rider makes more difference than the bike on the track.

My 650 has enough power to get me out of trouble on the road and enough to get me in trouble.

I never rode a Gixxer so I cannot compare and I'm not trying to anyway. I agree with Dizzle, the SV is certainly not a "cheap" bike. I also love its handling. One's perception is often based on expectations. Don't know what expectations you had, and we could only speculate on this, but the SV is a great bike.

I really may have to post this around the net a few times just so others can enjoy this post as much as I have. Truely one of, if not THE best posts written about bike comparison and quality yet. One day not to far in the distant future I can only hope to read quotes like this in Motorcyclist or Sport Rider and really give a new buyer insite into why they should be a GSXR over all the SV.

Granted a person may have never sat on a bike before nor even know what a motorcycle is but when it comes down to spending their hard earned cash money this guy is on POINT!!!! The SV is total crap, made crappy, handles crappy and well looks crappy. The GSXR on the other hand is great in all those same areas and could be the only great bike Suzuki has ever made. So get yourself a 750 or 1k and remember the newer ones are even better so don't buy the older years to begin with and enjoy your exciting habit of motorcycle riding cause if your not reving to 14,000 your not really enjoying motorcycling at all.

Ok new rule!!! If you have spent less than 10 min riding a particular bike you DO NOT rate to post an opinion- also if your BEST thoughts are brainstormed in your rectum please please never speak again and do the world a favor and shoot yourself in the face.....

Now to only reiterate what has allready been stated, the SV is not crap- far from it. Does it compare to the Gix? No. Is it saposed to be "competative with the GSXR brain children? NO. For a lack of better terms this comparrison is retarded and pointless. So for future reference please remove head from *** then post, cool?

*snicker*

That's something I would have done. In your defense, Nexus has a way of masking what he rides for some reason. Gixxer-envy, I imagine.

Well after this past Sunday's ride my only envy is for an SV1000 with single Yosh pipe or high single M4 full system. 3 guys had SV1000s and there was even a TL1000 there too!! I could have rode behind those sweet hammering V-twins all day long!!! I need a bigger twin really bad!! Untill then my 650 does what I need it too and more.

I love V-twins, I ride a Suzuki SV650!!

That is such a cool bike. It's all but in concrete that it'll be my first second, er, next bike without selling the Bandit, er, bike for when I'm not riding the Bandit, er, other bike.

I can say allready even though its only been a day riding my new Gix that I kind of allready miss the low end torque of the SV, I'm kind of thinking of picking up a used one! Haha! Don't get me wrong I love everything else about the Gix especially the sensativity/responsiveness, it deffinatley goes where you want it to go per se and does it right now. And even though its petty, well very petty I love the engine breaking growel the SV has as well and miss it. Now I got to figure a way to have my cake and eat it too! *giggle* we'll see what the wife says!
