Default gear indicators

thinking about getting a gear indicator for my 03 gixxer. was wondering if anyone had one they could recommend. I saw one in my mag, but i have no clue if you can see the digital readout in the sun? any comments suggestions, aside from "count" would be appreciated.

Out of curiousity, why do you feel you need one?

there are two types, Acumen and Digi. I don't have one but one of my buddie's bike has. Yes you can read it at sunlight it's easy to see the numbers and is practical in my oppinion. I still haven't bought one because don't want to spend 130$ for something not utterly nessessary.
Oh and by the way there are plug in version and soldering. The soldering is cheaper but you have to cut wires.

My mate always has them on his bike, kind of relies on it now.
He has no problem seeing it in the sun, I suppose its also partly shaded by the screen.

I see it in every issue of Sport Rider, and it looks so cool that I want one! But, I'm going to stand in agreement with Chrisan, that I don't want to spend $130 on something unnecessary.

I wanted it because even though I've learned the sound of my engine, I end up trying to shift to 7th gear a lot still. I'd prefer the NON-solder version, even though it costs a little more. Especially on an '03, I wouldn't want to cut wires! Maybe they'll get popular enough that the price goes down..

rpms and current speed should give you an idea of what gear you in.

Yes, "an idea" is always nice, but with this handy device, you can see your current gear at a glance.. no ideas required!

Ride on wind.

i could see that being a nifty lil toy

but thats about it

its like getting one of those things that offers a digital tac.

nifty but pointless

if you feel you need one get it and if you feel you want one and have the money get it

i just try to click into 7th too often. Its not a big deal overall, but would be a "nice" thing to have. As for the 130 bux, its not necessary, but still costs considerably less than an undertail kit or a new can.
