| Hi yall Travelled about 3 hours to see this RGV250 SP3 ALL BLACK. So heres the low down tell me what i should do. ***Its done 2100km. ***Its prolly a 96 and VJ23. ***Its ALL BLACK Bad **Stuffed Tune **Bad brakes **Handles not aligned **3-4 small little 1mm scratches **Bad carby **Missing UNDERCOVER because current one is cracked(i saw it) and beyond repair. So the shop after much haggling has raised the price to 430 000Yen (2140 Pounds) and for the increase they will: **Tune it perfectly **Overhaul the engine and check valves, pistons etc and adjust any valves etc(Not repair pistons etc but if pistons engine bad then deal cancelled) **New brake pads front and rear **Align handles **Touch up small scratches **Overhaul carby and replace jet, valves etc and tune it. **Replace air filter **Get new undercover and get it painted Black the same colour **Check the whole bike and fix any other minor probs if found. Apparently the bike will be perfect but I could tell you from todays ride the bike performed like a clogged up heap of s*** with little to NO response at all but they say all will be perfect. IN Japan everything tests your patience. For them to fix all of the issues will take 3 weeks. And even normally it would take 1 week just to buy the bike without any repairs. The bike shop stated that their clientele are mostly the type that would buy their bikes and then can tinker with it themselves to tune, change pads etc. But they also said even other stores that have an RGV 250 SP3 advertised with ~8500Km for about the same price wouldnt be perfect either, it would have some flaws. I did some more research and shops are saying a bike in the conditions i want would cost about 500,000Yen or more! No where near 430,000Yen all proper. So this shops deal seems pretty good as long as they fix it all and no probs with engine etc. And the extra charge is apparently quite low compared to others. And if all is fixed as i want it it would be a kick *** bike. On the otherhand the shop dudes were quite honest about the flaws and pointed them out themselves and told me about the carby etc themselves. They also told me it would take 3 weeks and not a day less. So i think they are trustworthy. And the bike looks super cool all black. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm What do you guys think? Yay or nay? |

| Also could i save some money by doing some of the stuff myself? Keep in mind my mechanical skills are extreme basics and would i save enough to make it worth my time? The new undercover alone would cost 30000Yen( get from another bike and paint it black) and then another 30000Yen for the carby (replacing some of the internals+tune). HELP!! |

| I have no idea what a Yen is worth. Consider the price of the bike plus the repairs, a used bike requires some TLC. Seems not too bad if you can get the deal cancelled if there are engine issues. But it's their word against yours. If you think it's a good deal, I'd bring a knowledgeable friend to have a look at it as well. Good luck.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | I would suggest that you send a PM to Hardware - he's in Tokyo and could give you the best advice if that price is fair in Japan. It seems high priced for the US/Canada market, but seems about right for the EU market. Everything is more expensive over here... I don't know how prices compare in the land of the rising sun, so I would suggest to talk to someone who knows the local environment ... Hardware.

| I own both the VJ22 and VJ23SP model Suzuki RGV's and from waht you have posted it seems a fair deal as long as they properly fix the items that are in question. Finding one of these bikesin A-1 condition even in Japan is hard to do. The total production run of 1996 VJ23SP T model and the 1997 VJ23 SP V model was less than 3 thousand total. So take that into consideration when you are looking at these machines. I deal with the Japan Market soem and can say to you that the prices are within reason. Now it is up to you to make the final decision. Keep in mind that you need to do regular maintenance on thes machines to keep them happy. They are not like their 4 stroke cousins.

| Yeah, the prices doesn't seem to be too bad. What shop is it and where is it (Is it in Ueno)? The shops seem to be very very thorough here - if they say they will do something they will - at least that's been my experience.
