| my bike fell off the stand today for the first time and hopefully the last. i was parked on an angled drive and after getting off the bike and slowly plopped over. my question is, the front fairing was a little scratched and the clutch lever as well. would you guys get these little cosmetic things fixed? I am leaning toward doing so, have already got cost to do so, be about $300. thanks |

| No. It's likely you'll have another incident if you ride a lot, and battle scars are the character of the bike. Surely you can find something better to spend $300 on, right? Make sure the clutch lever isn't cracked or stressed so that it breaks later. That being said, mine's showroom perfect.

| My bike has plenty of 'character' on one side, not really bothered about it,bike works just fine, does everything I ask of it,and knowing my luck,if I got it sorted I would only drop it again,so there is no point! I can live with cracked fairing, scratches and scraps!

| it is the frame sliders that kept the cost down as it is. i have frame sliders that saved the left fairing as well as rear sliders on the swing arm that protected the back end from getting any scratches. i was thankful for that. front fairings received some scratches as well as the clutch lever and the engine piece on the left side got scraped. total cost would probabley run about $350 to $400 after talking to suzuki shop guy this morning. ebay i can save about $50 to $100 replacing the parts. anyway, lesson learned not to walk away from bike too soon. |

Try unbolting it and add some washers as spacers until you get the lift you need, of course pavement isn't always even maybe there's a low spot where you usually park.

| The wheel doesn't need to be off the ground but it is a sign that the weight of the bike is on the stand making it more stable. Another advantage to a center stand that raises the wheel off the ground is when it's time to lube your chain ( if you have one ) you can rotate the wheel and not have to move the bike in order to lube the whole thing.

| Don't buy a geniune clutch lever - here in the UK they are about 4 times the price of a pattern one, which will look as good and work just as well.

| Well, being as I am. I have decided to fix the few scratched pieces. The bike will be back to new in no time, later this afternoon. Only thing I need is some nice flush mount front turn signals that mount into existing space on the 03 GSXR 1000. I have found a set but they want $120 seems steep for turn signals but they are the only ones I have found that mount into that space. Thanks for all the feedback |

| Seat Tester | i've had my bike drop enough times already. I've hit my bike once with my truck backing out of the garage... yeah, i'm stupid. I have a dent in the gas tank that I painted over and scraped on all the sliders and pegs on the one side of my bike. you can't see it unless you lean down or feel it, where you will definetly cut your hand.. hehe. the dent you can't see cause my leg covers it when I ride. I wouldn't fix it at all. spend the 300 on more gear.

| Newbie | http://www.motorcycle-parts-and-accessories.co.uk seems to be a good place to look for pattern parts and other bits, chain prices are pretty good too. Prices in sterling, dollars and euros for most of the bits i've looked at. Happy Hunting |
