Has anyone removed the rear wheel of their liner for a flat repair / tire replacement? How big a deal is it? If you do everything in the manual it looks like an OMG project removing the seats, fender, muffler, etc. Looks like you would have pieces & parts scattered everywhere before you were done. Do you think this is an exclusive Yamaha Dealer project or should any motorcycle dealer be able to do this without complications? The Yamaha dealer wants to mark up the tire $100 from what I can buy it from the motorcycle superstore and then charge another $70 to install it. The Honda dealer won't markup the tire at all but will charge $85 to install it. The local tire shop will do it for $20 if I bring them the wheel and new tire. Regarding repair versus replacement options. The Yamaha dealer says - any puncture, replacement is needed. The Honda dealer says - small puncture in the center of the tread (nowhere near the sidewall) and sometimes it can be fixed successfully. They make a judgement call on a case by case relying heavily on what the owner wants. I would like to hear some experiences with flat repair jobs if anyone has some. Thanks, Lance |
