Default It dies when I shift into gear

Well...I put my beautiful bike down for the first and hopefully last time. I am so embarrassed (bruised in ego and body). All things considered it could have been much worse for me and the bike. I went down in grass so it was a "soft" (haha) landing.

I can fix most of the damage, but I don't know what to make of one problem. It went down on the left side (clutch side). When I start the bike and pull in the clutch and put it into first--it dies. It doesn't lurch forward like the clutch is out. And I don't see and damage to the clutch switch or handle movement. And the fluid level is full.

Any ideas???
