Well lucky for me I slept in today... Lucky becuz I didnt have to wait for the UPS to drop off the 2 boxes i was suppose to get last thur...(Long story about Dennis Kirk screwing me, I mean being cautious.) So anyways, if only Christmas(not Xmas) was as exciting as opening packages for your motorcycle... Or maybe its just getting stuff for yourself that you really want is the fun.. who knows. Okay so Swapping out exhaust is night and day to the 600 mile service. So what did you get already, you might be thinkin. I got Roadhouse slipons. I just wanted to keep the classic look so I also got the shark tip for it. I would rather have the older looking fishtail but they dont make that for my slipon, at least not yet. I also ordered the Cobra FI2000R, 2 plugs and your pretty much done. I called cobra to see if they had any suggestions from other roadliner owners for the right settings and the guy said to try the first screw at 1.5 instead of 1(default). I did and I think it works perfect. What little popping there is(rarely), is less than it was stock. I had a hard time spending the money for something i wasnt so sure was really needed. My reasoning was that I knew it came from the factory lean and I guess the FI should just recalibrate it the same as factory after i put the slipon on, but, if the FI2000R could richen it up to where it was most happy and was at its peak power than not only would it run better but it might just last a little longer too. AND does it ever run! I know weve all heard "I could feel it in the seat of my pants," but I really think I could feel a difference when I gun the throttle it pushes me in the seat a bit more. Really. No kidding! I also think it is a tad smoother or maybe I should say easier to be smooth when Im turning a slow corner or turning the throttle when its closed and coasting. You know sometimes it feels like it jerks sometimes when you do that? So after putting it all on and wiping it down before i got it hot, I had to swap out the tips from a slash cut to the shark fin i bought. Soooo, I thought it would be fun to listen to the exhaust without the baffle to see how loud it was but before I did i just wanted to start it and hear it first.. following me? Somewhere in those few moments I thought I should take for a spin to see how it runs. Well when i got back I got down to take the tip off and pull the baffle and realized I hadnt decided to take it for a spin so i didnt really tighten the screw that holds the tip on... ![]() The screw was gone and so was the very expensive tip... ![]() That would really have been bad if it was true but lukily the tip was still there...wheewww!!! Anyways I cant wait to ride with my broinlaw and nephew(honda 1300's) cuz im pretty sure ill be ever harder for them to pass now. Well I know some of you are cussing me for writing a book sooo Ill stop here... Now if only we had a/c for these melting hot days of indiana weather...uhhggg |
