Default Passing lamps

Can anyone tell me in what configuration the passing bulbs work. Both of mine are on at the same time no matter what position the head lamp is in.

OMG. What a relief. I thought someone had swallowed light bulbs.

Sorry WillieWherry, I can't answer your question.

In as much there are 2 bulbs in the lamp housings left and right. I would assume that they should switch one to the other, when you go from brights to dim.

Did this question get anwered or resolved. I'll be installing my driving lights next week when the bike comes in and would like to know how they are wired. Are there no instructions with the lights?

I just installed them on my bike last weekend. They are a pain in ass, But well worth it now its done.
I wired them so the little 3 Watt bulbs are on with the running lights, and the Larger 35 Watt upper bulbs are on with the switch on the your right thumb.
My advise is to take your time, yes there are instructions with poor quality pics. If you wire them the way they come, Both upper and Lower bulbs will come on with the thumb switch.

Default Passing lamps

I ask my dealer the same question. The Yamaha lamps for the liners' are designed to have all the bulbs lit all the time. Yours are working the way they were designed to work.
On a side note, Yamaha's wiring sucks. My first time my lamps blew a fuse that shut off the passing lamps. The second time they blew the fuse to my headlight and the passing lamp. Of coarse, I was driving at night when this happened. At that point my dealer took out all the wiring and rewired them himself. I've not had a problem since then. Now, He rewires all the Liner passing lamps before he installs them.

Eric - I have plenty of beer.. I'll send you an invite when the bike comes in...saving install time and the normal "first time" headaches would be much appreciated.

Eric - you were right. The light are a PIA to install....can the instructions be any worse . Took about 2hr (soldered all the connections). The way the stalks seal to the headlight shell is pure crap..don't know why they didn't use a bolt like the stock stalks..........

Having a hard time getting the signal lights tight. Afraid I'll strip out the housing if I tighten the allens anymore.......

Pain in the ass indeed.
I thought for sure I cross threaded one of the mounts to aluminum forks, I would have for sure if I didn't catch that it didn't feel right.

Mine don't feel as tight as thought they should be, I have really given them a good road test yet, I hope that will change this weekend.

Did you rewire the smaller bulbs, so they are always on?

I was wondering if there are amber 3w bulbs to put on the bottom of the running lamps. I think that could look nice. I'll give it a shot when I get the bulbs and I'll post some pics here.
