I agree, a 5.3 or 5.6 like the roadstar would have been nice

Default gas mileage

Okay,

I just bought a strat "S" and I love it. Great riding bike. This is the first bike I have ever bought. I got it because the gas prices in CA are killing me. Dealer stated that I should get 40 - 45 mph once the bike is broken in. I have 300 miles on it now. I am only getting 117 miles to the tank. Hope it gets better.

My Strat is broken in now with 5,300 miles on her.

The Strat is sensitive to your throttle hand and your average road speed !

If I cruise at 60mph and just feather the throttle I can get 46-48 mpg.
If I run with the cars on the interstate at 80+ mph I only get 32-36 max.
I'm guessin' that you are goin' fast.
You will NEVER get great mpg if you go fast.
The bike sounds fantastic at 45-65 mph.

Thumbs down '06 Stratoliner Fuel Mileage

I'll tell you one thing...I don't know how they pulled those number out of their a$$, but I can't even come close to getting 200 miles per tank in SoCal! I ride 15 miles to and from work on the highway daily, and am barely getting 120 miles to a tank. I tried everything, upshifting at lower RPM (then I hear the engine bog down), installed a Power Commander III/USB and that didn't work either. I'm starting to get a bit...

First off,they are talking about 200 miles.........including RESERVE !

I easily get 200 miles per full tank.
I think you mean that your reserve light comes on at 130 miles.

You must be riding fast and/or twistin' the throttle.

Riding between 60 - 70 and bein' easy on the gas I easily get 180 miles before reserve comes on.

Once you go past 2500 rpm the gas mileage goes into the toilet.
A PCIII won't help mileage and you only would use one with a big air kit.

You can put a 65 tooth rear pulley on and a 215/60-17 and lower your rpm's.

my 2 cents, I asked a guy at a gas station what he got for mileage and he said, "32 - 33 mpg tops."

I think it was a stratoliner. It was a very nice machine.

About 8k on my '06 Roadliner S with Yamaha windshield and bags... I have a Patrick Air Racing Big Air Kit with a PCIII ...

I get about 42-45mpg as well and I usually run her fairly hard... Who wouldn't with all that torque at your command? *hehe

When I get to 140 miles on the bike. I had better be looking for a fuel station. A lot depends on how full you fill your tank. I have 25K on my Roadliner and I ride it hard. I run 80MPH on the E way and I live in the country. The E way is the only way to get to town. I fill the tank within an inch of the top now. I never did before. Maybe I will get better mileage now.

125 miles on a 2007 Stratoliner and first try at it was 40.9. I'm thrilled with that. Sure do love this bike.

I've put about 2000 miles on my strat midnight. I'm getting around 200 per tank (including reserve)
My best MPG was 45.3. I do mostly club riding. If I'm not the R.C. I'm blocking, Witch means after the block I'm flying up to the front.

Well I've had her a year now and 22,000 miles on the clock !
I don't know if you guys know it but the speedo/odo is optomistic by at least 5%.
That said, your mileage is a little lower than it looks.
I am running a car tire on mine now and it's a larger circle and much closer to ACTUAL mileage/odometer possibly an overdrive.
Babying her I get 42 -45 now.
It's probably a little more than that 'cause the speedo/odo doesn't know she's a little overgeared.
5,000 on the car tire so far !

I have an 06 roadliner with med. windshield and average 48 on the highway at 60 mph and town at 35 and45 mph. Went to the smokie mtns Saturday and averaged 44 running 75 on the interstate and 35 to 55 on the side roads. The harley's were averaging 50 to 55 but couldn't keep up when I pulled out to pass on the interstate.

Well I decided to run my 07 strateliner at 2500 rpm which runs at a steady 65 to 70 and improved my mileage to a great 46 miles per gal. Thanks to all who posted about rpms.

Brand new (so this really doesnt mean F'all) but I have ~400 miles (hey... only got it Sunday night... and my boss had no sympathy for my plea for some personal time...) and on my 07 Strat I am getting ~ 38-~39mpg ... after reading this thread I can expect that to improve after the breakin and initial service ...

hell, its still better than my car
