Yeah it's in seat height.

Sorry I didn't clarify better. You were saying something about the bars being a bit of a reach for you. I'm 6'2". I found the reach okay, but full lock they were hitting my knees. Matter of fact the reach was natural for me. My hands just rested on the bars naturally. I'm not much of a fan of beach bars, and hitting my knees at full lock confirmed that.

I am used to driving sports cars, and between that and trying the backrest on the drivers seat, I lean back a fair amount. I think that is primarily why the handbars are more of a reach. I am also getting highway pegs, which I expect will exacerbate this.

Speaking of an extra inch, with the Corbin seat on, it feels like I'm getting another half inch or so over the stock seat. Which actually makes the windshield glare off of the dial a little easier to deal with.

One more here in NY, and I'm in LOVE with this thing!!! Are there things I hate about it, yeah but overall I can't believe one can get a bike like this for this money! I've got a Strat S in Silver and people are drooling over this thing, Really attracts attention.
What things do I hate?
-- The exposed wires that could've easily been routed through the frame.
-- The GIANT exhaust cannon that IMO looks totally out of place on a bike beautifully influenced by the 1930's Art Deco period.
-- The sound of the engine, what's up with that???
Not really much else. For those that complain about the seat try riding a KTM, which is my other bike. I could go on and on about the things I love but I don't have time. I will say they've REALLY combined form and function in a way that the entire motorcycle industry, and the entire automotive industry as well, should envy! VERY WELL THOUGH OUT MACHINE!
I will say I'm not totally sold on the use of the EXUP valve in a machine that is designed to rev sooo low. I think that technology is best for bikes designed to redline WAYYYY past 5500 RPM's!!! No harm though, what do you guys think?
Also, what pipes do you guys think is the best swap available? I know V&H, my personal favorite, is coming out with a pipe in Jan./Feb. but it's also gonna be a two into one as well. How about the Yammie drag pipes vs the cobra? Ooops, I just realized my first post and I'm already jackin a thread, sorry.

The End...

I love mine as well including the exhaust and sound. I LOVE the sound of the stock exhaust.
My last bike, a Vulcan 1600 Classic came with Vance and Hines which were way too loud. This bike sounds perfect. I love the stock seat which is very comfortable.

I just purchased a 06 Stratoliner Midnight on 9/13/06. I should get it Saturday or Wednesday. I all depends on when I can get back to the shop. I'm pushing for Saturday I didn't even see the bike I was purchasing but I know what I wanted. The shop is about an hour away so it should be a nice ride home. Hope I can keep the RPMs under 2000. What's the speed on 2000rpm on the Roadliner/Stratoliner? Thanks, Don

You should get around 60 mph or so, I kept mine to 2500 rpm and below the first 600 miles, it got around 70 to 75 mph, according to how much hill I was climbing or descending. Good luck with the new liner, ride safe, you're gonna enjoy this bike.

cycledadwg thanks. I guess I didn't look at the owners manual well. I should have said 2500 rpm. This will be my first cruiser. All I have ever had are sportsbikes. Can't wait to get it!!!!

I bought my Stratoliner in late May. I took it on a 3000 mile solo trip through the South. Handled beautifully. Just added Speedstar drags and will be installing a Patrick Racing air kit and PCIII this winter if I can figure how to remove the gas tank.

Thumbs up Strat talk

Thumbs up Speedstar Drags

I wasn't too sold on the EXUP valve thing either. Yamaha provided me with a set of Speedstar drags. Though they're not LOUD, they're loud enough and they actually increase the midrange torque. No policeman has stopped me for an emissions violation although the pipes aren't street legal. I love them and they I got money back from the stock vacuum cleaner.

Default slip-ons or full system

I am looking to change the exhaust to get more sound and squeez some more power out of my stratoliner. any suggestions? i'm wondering if its best to keep the EXUP and go with slip ons or ditch it for a full 2 into 1 roadhouse system.

Thumbs up Strato

I'm gettin' a strato midnight in a week or so.
It's already been snowin' here though.
I think that she will be a sweet ride.

I got my Roadliner in april of 06. I love it. It's black cherry in color. The large wind shield, fender tips, extra driving lights, shift lever, brake lever, factory bags, passanger running boards. About 2500 miles on it. The more I ride it the more I like it.

I got a 06 Strat in July this year. Even though it is a little big for my "frame" (5.4, 28 inseam) it handles like a charm! And after a custom Corbin seat I have no problems. I have already put 4,600 mi on it. Best bang for the buck, IMHO!

Midnight Strat owner here. Had it a month or so and now it's too cold to ride much. Came off of Royal Stars and Ventures to get a Strat. My wife still has a Royal Star Palomino but has ridden my Strat and liked it alot. Could be a two Strat house someday

Congrats!!

What's the big change from Royal Star to Strat?

How do they compare comfort wise?

Size wise?

Handling?
