Wow, can't believe no one's talking about all the business going down in WSBK and MotoGP this year....I've only been following racing this season as I've only been riding for about 18 months, but here's a general wrap up: Ben Spies (Yamaha) and Noriyuki Haga (Ducati) are neck and neck in points for the WSBK title, who's season culminates in Portimao, Portugal on 10/25. Spies won race 1 at Magny Cours, France to briefly eclipse Haga in points until Haga won race 2, putting him ahead 10 points. The final race of the season is going to be epic. On the MotoGP side, Jorge Lorenzo took the checkered flag in Estoril, Portugal, bringing him within 18 points of heavily favored Valentino Rossi, his Fiat Yamaha teammate. Also worth noting was the return of Casey Stoner after a three race layoff for a still undiagnosed mystery illness. Stoner took second in the race and looked back to old form and showed no signs of his ailment, a true comeback story that leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy inside. In other news, Ben Spies, who has already signed onto a Yamaha Tech3 team for next year's MotoGP season, will also compete in the final race this year as a wildcard entrant for Yamaha. |
