Default This really Stinks

The unmentionable happened on my way home from work last night. I have a 32 mile commute each way mostly on two lane country roads which is nice. It was approximately 12:45 A.M. on a straight section of the road. In the opposite direction a truck was approaching with its high beams on, being polite and thinking he would do the same, I dimmed my headlight. As it got closer still with the high beams blaring away I flashed my brights at him while trying not to look directly in the trucks direction as not to be momentarily blinded.
Well… the A-hole never dimmed his lights and just as we were crossing paths , my eyes still trying to readjust to the darkness, directly in front of me I spotted a franticly twitching black and white fury tail in the air raised above its owner who couldn’t decide whether to go left or right. I was traveling about 60 to 65 MPH and was at a point of no return. In less than a split second (while in my mind there was a very slow motion “OHHHHHH %%%%%!!!!!!” ringing out) I felt the Kerr splat under my bike. Never losing any control over the bike what so ever I continued about a mile or so before I pulled over to do a smell test and take inventory. I could smell a trace of skunk but I didn’t get hit directly (as I raised my head to the heavens and said “Thank You Jesus”)
When I got home I checked everything closer and other than a slight trace odor on my bike, all was A-OK, which is more than I can say for the poor skunk. RIP you lil stinker.
