Default I love my s-50

This is my first post here.I'm new to riding,August will be a year. My legs have stopped shaking now and I am really starting to enjoy riding, every weekend now.Its so nice to feel my skills improving and feel more relaxed and just enjoy the ride.I still have a hard time remembering to cancel my turn signal but my husband always keeps an eye on me and gives me the blinker signal.I've grasped counter steering pretty well but I know I still have limitations like steep inclines and tight slow turns. I got my license in Alabama although we live in South Jersey at the present time. My husband was blown away that I didnt have to take a drivers test in AL, just the written.Hes had the MFC and has taught me the basics. I need to take the advanced rider course but I'm going to wait until we go to AL again this winter and see what they have available.I just took my first long ride to Johnstown,PA for Roar in the Valley. What an experience the PA Turnpike is!Especially with wind and trucks blowing you around!I love the looks of the s-50 and the perfect fit, narrow, light, around 440 lbs. I'm 5 feet tall and can handle even close calls like when I used only the front brake to stop on a curve which made the bike want to fall to the right.I wont forget that anytime soon.I never thought I could ride but other women kept telling me I could. I learned on a 1980 200cc Honda. What a rattrap but great to learn on. I tried my husbands 883R but it was still too wide after lowering. So he sold it and got me my Suzuki. What a great guy!He rides an '04 1200 Sportster HD,that he loves.I've enjoyed the posts, especially riding techniques and safety tips. Hope you all can ride this weekend, I know we will be!PS:I'm 54 so your never too old to enjoy a good ride

Welcome to the forum. If I remember right, the S50 is the old Intruder 800. My wife rides that bike and we just returned from a 10 day vacation of over 2100 miles of riding through southern New Mexico and Arizona. The trip was tremendous and her bike performed like a champ.

Here's a couple of pictures of the trip. The first one is at the Very Large Array in Central New Mexico, the second heading into the Salt River Canyon in Arizona:

Hi and welcome. I too am new with an S50. I purchased mine in Feb of this year. Does yours have the windshield, saddle bags, or stuff like that? I am looking at a few things to add now that I have gotten more comfortable riding and would like some insight into how different the bike may handle.

I think you'll find that the S50 rides like a dream. With the low center of gravity, it is well balanced. If you are planning longer rides, you should invest in saddlebags and a windscreen. Also, you might consider changing the grips to Kuryakyn Iso grips with the throttle rocker. If you don't mind the touring bike look, you can also install passing lamps which will make you more visible in traffic. Again, welcome and enjoy the ride!

I have a short Memphis windshield which doesnt always do alot to keep the wind off of me but I'm used to it and dont want a bigger one. My husband modified a HD fx sissybar from Drag Specialties that is tall so I can put a large Tourmaster bag on it for trips.Thats all we've done to it so far. My husband is going to put a turnsignal kit on it from Badlands for about 100.00 because I still forget to click them off. It takes a day to install them though so its quite a wiring project.I'm getting better about canceling my signals so maybe I wont need it but it sure would be nice to have.

Hey, since you're throwing your money around, throw some around here!

Good luck, Deb. Great choice of bikes.
