Notice no skid marks from the bike. You'd think he'd try to scrub some speed off.

The general consesus around here was a bad case of target fixation followed by snarky comments about kevlar sneakers and a general lack of gear.

Looked like a spaz to me. Followed through about the 100 or so pictures, there was a serious lack of gear there that I don't remember seeing last time I was at the gap. Then again I could of just not been paying that much attention as I was chomping at the bit to get out and ride as soon as the weather cleared up enough.
Far too many riders out there wearing tennis shoes. Not good.

Its hot here this week so all the bikes and the nuts that ride them, are out. My favorite look is: sneakers, no socks, shorts, wife-beater shirt, no gloves, Arai helmet (!???).

Look at the entry into the turn. Way too inside. No room to actually take the curve.

Since I've started a noob rider thread I'll vent about two I encountered today. On the way to work its no gear except Arai helmet guy on the freeway and sundry ramps. He's on a GSXR leaning like crazy in the curves, hunched over on the bike, giving it his all. I'm behind him the whole way on my Marauder, keeping up no problem, um its a regular commuting day for me. Oh and I think his max speed was maybe 75mph.

On the way home, some random sportbike guy, basically a yellow blur, passes me in my lane like I'm standing still then lane splits between the two cars in front of me. Bear in mind lane splitting isn't legal here and oh by the way, me and the cars ahead are going 70mph!

This guy is just not a competent rider, he's outriding his meager abilities. It has nothing to do with his gear. Riding boots and leather pants won't keep you in your own lane.

Gear is good, but it only makes you a safer crasher. It's a small but important (to me) part of the big picture. This guy shows us that a flashy full faced helmet does nothing for your riding skills - and he is alive because the SUV driver was paying attention to his dumb *** and stopped before squishing him.

It seems to be an international thing ... in the Swiss forum where I'm active, a guy was complaining about other bikers. He was going up the twisties, going at a good pace, when a guy on a race-replica goes flying past him, leaning off the bike, passing cars and other bikes in blind curves. All it takes is opposing traffic, tar snakes, an oil spill, small critters or road kill, or one driver who spooks, and that race-replica becomes scrap-metal.

That guy was barely leaned over, way more than enough room to take the corner.

Well I rode the Dragon July 3rd in the rain,, kept reasonable speeds for conditions,, not speeding more than maybe 5 or 10 over,, didn't cross over the lines,,, they tell you to ride center or to the right side of your lane,, never ride the line or in the left hand side of your lane because of oncoming traffic.

I looked like an alien when I rode it with all my gear on,,hmmmm,,,I am still here typing,, wonder how that guys typing skills are right now????

I give the "alien riding my bike" look much higher marks than the "casually dressed laying in front of an suv next to my dumped bike" look.

Saw alot of bad turns in those pictures. Don't think that ride would be to enjoyable with all those nuts on the road.
