Default Looking to buy '79 gs1000; what to look for?

New paint job last year that included frame and wheels.

Last couple months:

Pod filters
Carb rebuild/rejet
V&H exhaust
headers
All new cables (tach, clutch, speedo, throttle)
New Brakes
New Clutch (damn it's hard to squeeze!)
New tires

Everything seemed to be in running order. The only problem is the owner claimed that the battery doesn't hold its charge after 2-3 days.

His list price is $2k, but from talking to him he said he could work down to the $1800 range. I'm not sure I can get him much lower than that. I know this is way above retail blue book value, but he claims all this work done (by a moto shop) ran $1900 (he says he has paperwork for all of it), and he purchased it just over 2 months ago for $1700 and then had all this work done since. He is an auto mech, and said he had all the regular maintenance work you would do for every riding interval done after he purchased the bike.

I am seriously considering purchasing this bike, so is there anything in particular I need to watch out for? I'm fairly new to bikes (riding and owning less than 6 months) and I only have two '81 kaws.
