Default Bike Trip

I am just planning my first long trip ( about 1500 miles ) and was just wondering what kind of supplies you take when you do a long trip. There are 4 or 5 of us going for a 4 day trip. Appreciate any advice from those of you that have done longer trips.

Teriyaki-flavored beef jerky and Redhot Atomic Fireballs. Fill your pockets, luggage and any other storage areas with these items.

No, the links that you posted work fine. I just meant that I had done a search before I started the thread, and I did not find what I was after, but you and Ispirion came to the rescue. Sorry about the confusion.

YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! hahaha

i actually roomed with 2 canadians for 2 years in orlando...and another one was my direct boss. so needless to say, i used to actually say the word "eh" in normal conversation, and pronounce "project" proh ject rather than prah ject. also started saying coopons rather than quepons because of them, though that is not nec. a canadian thing.

Personally, I don't carry a lot of extra stuff. My took kit consists of tools that will tighten most of the fasteners on the bikes. Don't need a TIG welder, pipe bender lathe and the like. I don't carry duck tape as I've never had the occasion to tape up any ducks. I do carry a roll of electrical tape though, extra fuses and bulbs.

If you are motelling it, then it is simipler. Use the free crap they give at motels and you won't need to haul as many toiletries. We are planning a ten day trip this summer and plan on doing laundry once or twice to save on the amount of clothes we have to haul.

Generally, you are only a few miles from civilization, (even in Memphis, Landry) so you can always pick up stuff as you need it.

Don't even take t-shirts. Wear them until you can't stand the smell, then go to WallyWorld and buy a new one for $6.87. (why don't they just charge 6.99 like everyone else?)

Wallyworld sets the price so that when you buy the shirt, with sales tax it will be $7.96. Then people say, crap, I don't want four pennies, just keep it. Thattaway, they make four cents more on every sale. At least, that's my theory.

Why do stores in the US advertise the price without sales tax, then hit you for the additional 8% when you go to pay?

In Europe, advertised prices are always the out-the-door price including VAT. In Germany, the VAT is 16%, but you don't really notice, because when the product is advertised for EUR 9,99, you can put down a EUR 10.00 bill and get one cent change.

Part of the problem is that the sales tax varies by taxing authority. In Hooterville where I live, our rate is 8.75%. Used to be 8% but our city fathers decided to build and altar to high school football (being a fancy new ballfield) and a new baseball stadium for the AA baseball team and are paying for it with the increased 0.75% sales tax. I'm supposed to feel good about it because it brings ferigners in from New Mexico to spend money and helps our economy.
