Default M50 today maybe

I may be picking up a red M50 today. I've read the posts here bout it, but there isn't much. Can I really expect it to be as smooth as people say at high(er) speeds? I'm coming out of a 95 Shadow 600 which made my girlfriend extremely happy around 50 mph, if you know what I mean

I had my shadow for 8 months when I had a nice meeting with a VW Jetta's side door. I've been out of riding for around 9 months.

I guess my question is...What can I really expect?

The latest Motorcycle Cruiser magazine had a very positive write up of the C50 and M50. The M50 looks like a great bike, it shares the C50 powertrain which is very nice. If you want smooth at high speeds, there's always the Goldwing for smooth comfy sailing at 100+ mph. The M50 should be fine for legal speeds with plenty of reserve power - and it should be noticably more powerfu8l than your Honda 600 Shadow. It's also one of the best looking bikes too.

isnt this all that matters?!?! hahaha

i love my M...first thing you will want to do is take the rear suspension from setting 3 to 1 or 2 (i made it 1 since i only weigh 150). it handles great, looks great and is "pretty" smooth....i dont have much to compare it to though since it is only my 2nd bike and i only rode an 81 gs650 prior.

ive done some 90mph riding for little spurts of 10 minutes or so and it is pushing hard at that point. but for 80mph and under it is great and will go all day. comfortable seat too....ive done trips of 9 and 7 hours and dont have a problem at all.

post pics when you get it! welcome! more M50 riders the better!!

Yurp, I sure did. It's a great bike. Smooth as glass and powerful enough to last me a looooooong time.

Being the moron that I am, I dropped it trying to park today. Not much damage. Scratched a bit of the left mirror, rear turn signal case, the end of the left grip. And I snapped off the end of the clutch lever. JB Weld didn't do the trick though.

So I've got 80 miles on th clock and I'm already looking for parts to fix her up...

I'm in an apartment with too few parking spots so I park in front of my car. Theres a little curb with a grassy median that raises up about 8-12 inches.

I pulled around my car and pointed my way into the opening. I wasn't thinking and left it in first, so I wouldnt have to push her into the spot manually. Dumb idea. Let out the clutch a little too quick and hopped up on the curb where she stalled out (still getting used to the 800)...front wheel a foot off the pavement (and I'm still getting used to the extra weight).

Plop.

The moral of the story is "get a place with a garage" or "put her in neutral, dummy."

Glad to hear you got the bike and like it! Sorry to hear about the mishap. Hopefully that's the worst that will ever happen to you on the bike. I haven't seen a red one up close yet. If you get a chance, post a picture.

Lombard Suzuki in (duh) Lombard Il formally rocks. I brought my bent bolt from the left grip cover end cap thing and they had one in stock. 2 whole bucks. The rest I can live with for a little while.

I'll see what I can do about the pic, it'll take a few days. We're looking at some nasty weather the next few days.
