Glad to see you get out and around so much. So what's your secret to having so much ride time?

My '05 C50 that I bought at the end of July last year has about 4000 miles on it. I just sold my '94 Concours, so the C50 will now get 100% of my butt time - riding to work and some weekend riding. It's an awesome bike.

7 weeks old...2300 miles almost. should be over 2500 this weekend if i just get out today or tomorrow.

mostly 2 lane highway and back roads. just cruising around the state. exactly what i bought it for. i also ride to work a couple times a week which is only 5 miles of bumper to bumper.

.

About 8700 - which is to and from work. Occasionally I go for a ride on a weekend, but as its too small to go on the freeway, I don't go very far.

Its 106 miles to Chicago. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hey, psycho, we're not getting back together. Now get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up.

2200 miles. All pleasure riding -- twisties, back roads, no super long trips yet. Just started riding last summer. Have almost as many miles on my bike (bought new) as my hubby has on his and he bought his in 2002... I'm the riding fiend of the family.

Simple: I'm single, no kids, I get 4 weeks vacation a year, and I'm the boss at work so I can set my own hours. If the weather is nice, off I go to ride away the afternoon and evening! I ride a lot on weekends also. The trick is to find cheep lodging, and use vacation days to extend weekends rather than using them as a whole week. I am in grad school, but I take my classes on Tuesday and Wed nights so I can still take long weekends without missing.

For example, I am riding to Texas for a small rally Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun (staying with a friend and using only 3 vacation days, no missed class because of the term break). Two weekends after that a group of us are riding up to go hang gliding in Tennessee (group camping rate $10 for the night). Two weeks after that is an overnight to Savannah (Southern Cruisers hotel discount rate $34 for the night per room, and I'll share), the weekend after that is RollingThunder in DC (staying with a friend for the holiday weekend), a couple weekends after that is the Intruder Owners Club Rally in Padukah Kentucky (four day rally, but I'll work the Saturday before and only use 1 vacation day and share a room). Some weekend in there I'll ride up to Asheville, NC, and stay with an old girlfriend for a long weekend.
So that's 6 trips, totalling 19 days, and I'll only use 5 days of vacation and maybe $120 bucks on campsites and hotels.
So I still have 15 vacation days, plus 5 personal/ sick days left...maybe Sturgis, and/ or a two-week trip out to LA.
Yes, I do have a car (a Ford Explorer) but I really just don't like to drive, so I only use it when I need to go to the Home Depot or something like that. I have my shirts and sportcoats picked up and dropped off at work from the cleaners, so I can ride to work and change out of my jeans for meetings.
To me riding isn't a means of transportation, its a lifestyle choice!

Very deep, Dr. Bob!

"Q-Rokit" joined the FAMILY @the end of this past July & currently has just over 5,000 mi. My new love for the twisties & the search for total control while in 'em have totally convinced me that a 750 or 1000 is for later down the road. My 600 is what I love in those tight turns.

Who says you gotta ride the street/interstate all the time ? Country roads & country scenes are my aim right now .

I bought my bike last September with 412 miles on it. Since then, I've added 1585, but 5 months of that time was garage time due to the short riding season here.

The first 800 miles took place in the 20 miles of twisties surrounding my house (I live in a very rural spot). I only work 4 miles away from home so only a few miles are commute miles.

Only recently have I been heading further and further away from home for some longer stretches. I'm planning a trip to Quebec City this summer and maybe Cadillac Mountain on the Atlantic Coast.

Being married and a mother limits my riding time since I'm the only rider. My teenage son rides the ppad as much as I'll let him, but he hates to go fast and he's not terribly fond of the ppad for very long at a time.

What's this "Short Riding Season" so many speak of? You mean not everyone rides year round?

My teenage son used to say I probably rode my bike as slow as I drive our cages. Big mistake on his part. I took him on a 6 mile twisty ride near our house. He soon discovered that he could touch the road with out fully extending his arm! He was crushing my hips with his knees trying to get them away from the road. He has a lot more respect for us old folks after that little putt!
