My gixxer is never left outside out of my sight! She is always brought in and put away, no matter where I'm at. Even my sister parks her car outside so my little Gix can be garaged at her house too!

The twisties - not the superslabs - separate the riders from the squids.

I'm a newbie, although I know what a squid is (and I never want to meet on on the road).

But what are "twisties" and "superslabs"?

Twisties - nice, curvy roads, usually up or down a mountain.

Superslab - Freeway, highway, Autobahn, whatever you call it.

Twisties require skill to master them - knowing where, when and why to use your brakes and throttle.

Superslab is pretty easy - just point your bike and go. No challenge (unless you happen to have a close call with death or one of his representatives).

Thanks, inspiron.

That's what I thought these terms meant, but I wasn't sure.

I used to keep my bike inside the house with me; in the basement... I would even start it up from time to time during the winter. Come springtime, I'd call my brothers (I have 9) and have them haul it out for me... During riding season, I would pull it right into the livingroom for the night...

I have since moved, and have a garage, but even it's fixed up like Fort Knox... I have 4 cameras mounted in the corners, and two "discreetly" mounted, and the whole thing is lit up like a Christmas tree... And of course, the typical alarm... I have a '67 'Vette that I protect in there with my bike, but my daily driver stays outside... Sad, isn't it?

Nothing's worse than getting your shoelaces caught on the shifter, tuck 'em in or tape 'em down. Or avoid any of that by buy a real set of boots!

My bike comes inside the apartment with me every night. Sits in what used to be the dining room.

Wisdom is a treasure, so long as it's not conventional.

Here's another item for your consideration:

While it may sometimes be okay to ride fast, one should never ride in a hurry.

Suzuki GSX-R series bikes are the biggest theft target, according to Progressive Insurance. They also rate as most frequently wrecked. So, you inexperienced guys who are going to park your bike outside might want to think at least twice about buying that Gixxer.

I'm happier and happier that I've got a garage.

Cool thread.
